GIFs in online interaction: embodied cues and beyond

International audience; Recent research has characterized GIFs as a means for speakers to reproduce nonlinguistic cues such as bodily actions and facial expressions in online written interaction, which is first and foremost text-based. They make it possible to translate in digital interaction what those nonlinguistic cues enable to do in face-to-face conversation: express emotion and affect, and elaborate on what is being said. This article explores further the role and functions of GIFs as embodied cues and goes beyond, where GIF use diverges from body language in face-to-face conversation.

Inclusive Search for Standard Model Higgs Boson Production in the WW Decay Channel using the CDF II Detector

We present a search for standard model (SM) Higgs boson production using p (p) over bar collision data at root s = 1. 96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4. 8 fb(-1). We search for Higgs bosons produced in all processes with a significant production rate and decaying to two W bosons. We find no evidence for SM Higgs boson production and place upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the SM production cross section (sigma(H)) for values of the Higgs boson mass (m(H)) in the range from 110 to 200 GeV. These limits are the most stringent for m(H) > 130 GeV and are 1.29 above the predicted value of sigma(H) for m(H) 165 GeV.

The role of procalcitonin (PCT) as a biomarker for sepsis in adults is well documented, while its role in infections affecting neonatal children remains controversial. Among these infections, Community-Acquired pneumonia (CAP) has been studied extensively, because it's the second cause of death in children in developing countries, and one of the most frequent causes of hospitalization in industrialized countries. Characterisation of tumour-associated antigens in colon cancer.

In order to search for clinically relevant cancer-associated genes and to define further the spectrum of immunogenic proteins, we applied SEREX (serological identification of antigens by recombinant expression cloning) to analyse genes expressed in colon adenocarcinoma. In continuation of our work toward the establishment of a working cell bank for metabolic and toxicological studies, V79 Chinese hamster cells were genetically engineered for stable expression of rat cytochrome P450IA2. Full-length cDNA encoding rat P450IA2 was obtained by searching a cDNA library made from Aroclor 1254-induced rat liver mRNA and by joining a small 5'-end fragment to a fragment containing the rest of the cDNA. Nanofitins targeting heat shock protein 110: an innovative immunotherapeutic modality in cancer.

The presence of an inactivating heat shock protein 110 (HSP110) mutation in colorectal cancers has been correlated with an excellent prognosis and with the ability of HSP110 to favor the formation of tolerogenic (M2-like) macrophages. These clinical and experimental results suggest a potentially powerful new strategy against colorectal cancer: the inhibition of HSP110.
