Las Cortes de Martín el Humano (1401-1407) y su repercusión en la Hacienda de la ciudad de Valencia.
2004
The general purpose of this paper is, towards municipal source knowledge, to study Treasury incidence of Cortes council, designed by King Martin of Aragon in the city of Valencia between 1401 and 1407. Cortes books of account register some files related to complaints about the Cortes meeting (embassies and aids to the king...), wages (receivers, notary public, bailiffs...), the Cortes development (documents copy and shipment, reading of fueros and other local laws...) and other expenses (city entrance party games, tips to royal officials...). Negotiation, approval and distribution of Cortes economical donation they …
La financiación de las empresas mediterráneas de Alfonso el Magnánimo. Bailía General, Subsidios de Cortes y Crédito Institucional en Valencia (1419-…
2003
This article studies the role of the General Bailía of Valencia—the office for the management of the royal domain resources of the kingdom of Valencia- in the political and military projects of Alfonso V the Magnanimous in the Mediterranean. In this way its also analysed the role of the Parliament, a class representation of the kingdom, and the city of Valencia, main urban centre The incomes from the royal domain, the donations from the Parliaments as a representative assemblies, and the loans provided by the city of Valencia contributed in a decisive way to the guarantee of the economic viability of Alfonso Vs military expansion. It is right that the main instruments that the king had to a…
Damping by bulk and shear viscosity for confined acoustic phonons of a spherical virus in water
2007
International audience; A sphere-like virus in water is modeled as a homogeneous isotropic elastic continuum sphere in contact with an infinite viscous compressible Newtonian fluid. The frequencies and damping of the confined vibrational modes of the sphere are calculated for the material parameters of a virus in water. While the effects of viscosity are found to be negligible for a virus-like sphere of macroscopic size, for nanoscale viruses both the frequency and damping of the vibrational modes are significantly affected by the viscosity of the water. Furthermore, both shear viscosity and bulk viscosity play an important role.

Las Cortes de 1428 y su repercusión en la Hacienda municipal de la ciudad de Valencia
2004
Call for Cortes council means to Valencia's city big expenses about municipal Treasury. All of them were accounted by clavario of the city in his book of accounts (document wages, copy, donations, etc.). From these books, and also by the same ones written by the Consell (Valencia city council), we can know which expenses they were, and also how, from 1428, mostly percent of these expenses were assumed by Diputation del General (also known as Generalitat, Kingdom political and economic assembly).

La convocatoria para asistir a Cortes le suponía a la ciudad de Valencia toda una serie de gastos que r…
Contextual analysis of home environment factors influencing the acquisition of early reading skills in Zambian families
2014
This study examined the effect of home environment factors in the acquisition of early reading skills (orthographic awareness and decoding competence). To assess these factors, a sample of seventy-two (72) first grade learners (females = 55%; age range = 7–8 years) and their maternal parents (age range 26–61 years old) from low SES in Zambia's capital city, Lusaka were recruited. Parents, in response to a home literacy questionnaire, reported on their attitudes towards reading, literacy teaching in the home, the home literacy environment, presence of reading materials for adults and children, parental education, occupation, family size and family possessions. Two measures of reading skill w…
Magnetic Sensitive Pineal Cells in Pigeons
1982
The electrical activity of about 30% of a homing pigeon’s pineal cells can be altered by changing the horizontal or vertical component of the natural magnetic field, using two pairs of Helmholtz coils. The cells respond to a rapid and/or gradual change in the magnetic field with either excitation or inhibition. In some of the sensitive cells the responses to magnetic field changes could not be repeated.
Comparative study of mandibular linear measurements obtained by cone beam computed tomography and digital calipers
2014
Objectives: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an innovative dental of imaging system characterized by rapid volumetric imaging with patient exposure to a single dose of radiation. The present study was carried out to compare the linear measurements obtained with CBCT and digital caliper in 20 mandibles from human cadavers. Study design: A total of 4800 linear measurements were measured between different mandibular anatomical points with CBCT and digital caliper. The real measurements were defined as those obtained with the digital caliper. Posteriorly, the mandibles were scanned to obtain the CBCT images, with software-based measurements of the distances. Results: The measurements obt…
Photochemical Size Reduction of CdSe and CdSe/ZnS Semiconductor Nanoparticles Assisted by nπ* Aromatic Ketones
2009
A novel effect of n pi* aromatic ketones on the quantum dots optical properties is reported. By controlling experimental conditions such as time of irradiation, presence of air in the media, hydrogen donor capacity of the solvent, and irradiation wavelength, core and core-shell CdSe QDs can be resized as convenient.
Metal hydride alloys for storing hydrogen produced by anaerobic bacterial fermentation
2016
Abstract This study reports on hydrogen sorption from bacterial fermentation media with powdered palladium (Pd) and alloys (LaNi5, AB5, and AB2) that are capable of forming hydrides. Mass changes of the powders after incubation in fermentation media were measured by differential thermogravimetry. Composition and concentrations of the gases accumulated during fermentation and absorbed by Pd or the alloys were analyzed by mass spectrometry. The results demonstrated that hydrogen (H2) was absorbed and stored by powdered Pd and alloys directly from nutritional broth. The best sorption was obtained with Pd, followed by alloys AB5 and AB2. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that bacteria were …
