Fostering learning opportunities through employee participation amid organizational change

Health care organizations are facing rapid changes, frequently involving modification of existing procedures. The case study reported here examined change processes and learning in a health care organization. The organizational change in question occurred in the emergency clinic of a Finnish central hospital where a new action model for shift-specific nursing supervision was being introduced. Physical activity measured by accelerometry among adolescents participating in sports clubs and non-participating peers

The purpose of this descriptive cross-sectional study is to describe the amount and intensity of physical activity (PA) measured by accelerometry among adolescents participating in organized sports (SCP) and age-matched non-participating peers (NP). SCPs (332) and NPs (139) wore an accelerometer on the hip for seven days. PA was reported using the 1-min exponential moving average. The current moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) recommendation of at least an average of 60 min of MVPA daily was reached by 85% of SCPs and 45% of NPs (p < .001). Tarkastelen tutkimuksessani Jyväskylä Sinfonian yleisötyötoiminnan piirteitä pääosin 1990-luvun alusta alkaen. Tutkimustehtäväni on selvittää yleisötyön motiivit pienen suomalaisen sinfoniaorkesterin näkökulmasta. Ovatko yleisötyön päämäärät taloudellisia, vai perustuuko yleisötyön toteutus yhteiskunnallisiin, kasvatuksellisiin ja humanistisiin arvoihin? Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on selvittää suomalaisen orkesterilaitoksen asemaa suomalaisessa yhteiskunnassa painottaen orkesterilaitoksen luonteessa ilmenevää autonomian ja yhteiskunnallisen toimijuuden dualismia. Diplomdarba Skolēnu runas kultūras prasmju izkopšanas iespējas 12. klasē mērķis ir izstrādāt lingvodidaktisko materiālu 12. klases skolēnu runas kultūras kvalitātes uzlabošanai un pārbaudīt tā efektivitāti darbības vārda apguvei veltītajās stundās. Temata aktualitāti nosaka tas, ka skolēnu runas kultūras prasmes nav pietiekami izkoptas, ko apliecina gan dažādu lingvodidaktisko pētījumu rezultāti, gan autores vērojumi un dažādu mācību priekšmetu skolotāju atzinumi. Participatory methodology in exploring citizenship : A critical learning process

In this chapter, we shift the focus from analysing citizenship practices to reflecting on learning within the research process of exploring everyday citizenship. To this end, we provide a narrative of our experimentation with participatory research methodology when investigating the daily practices and participation patterns of citizens in two districts in rural Uganda. “Experimentation”, in this context, refers to an endeavour in which we reflectively tested actualizing the participatory methodology that we considered the most appropriate for this research. peerReviewed
Ikääntyneet osallisena kehittämistyössä : kokemuksia Kampraatti-toimintamallin kehittämisestä

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää ikääntyneiden kokemuksia osallistavasta kehittämistoiminnasta. Tutkimukseni pohjautuu Vaasan kaupungin vanhustyössä vuosina 2010–2012 toteutettuun Kampraatti-työryhmään, jossa työntekijöiden lisäksi toimintaa kehittivät vaasalaiset ikääntyneet kuntalaiset. Tutkimuksessani pohdin sitä, millaisista tekijöistä vapaaehtoistoimintamallin kehittämiseen osallistuneiden kokemukset rakentuvat. Teoriaosuudessa käsittelen aihetta osallisuuden ja toimijuuden viitekehyksen kautta. Samalla tuon esille kokemukseen perustuvan asiantuntijuuden rakentumista.
