Benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline (BTHIQ) molecules are able to adopt widely differing conformations that depend on the presence or absence of N-substituents. To assess the possible role of BTHIQ conformation on the affinity of these compounds for α 1 -adrenergic receptors, of interest for the management of hypertension, the racemic N-unsubstituted BTHIQ norlaudanosine and a series of N-alkylated derivatives were assessed for binding to rat brain cortical sites labelled with the radioligand [3H]prazosin. Let F be a polynomial dominating mapping from Cn to Cq with n>q. We study the de Rham cohomology of the fibres of F, and its relative cohomology groups. Let us fix a strictly positive weighted homogeneous degree on C[x1,…,xn]. With the leading terms of the coordinate functions of F, we construct a fibre of F that is said to be “at infinity”. We introduce the cohomology groups of F at infinity. These groups, denoted by Hk(F−1(∞)), enable us to study all the other cohomology groups of F. Abstract We characterize finite determinacy of map germs f : ( C 2 , 0 ) → ( C 3 , 0 ) in terms of the Milnor number μ ( D ( f ) ) of the double point curve D ( f ) in ( C 2 , 0 ) and we provide an explicit description of the double point scheme in terms of elementary symmetric functions. Also we prove that the Whitney equisingularity of 1-parameter families of map germs f t : ( C 2 , 0 ) → ( C 3 , 0 ) is equivalent to the constancy of both μ ( D ( f t ) ) and μ ( f t ( C 2 ) ∩ H ) with respect to t , where H ⊂ C 3 is a generic plane.
