Valorization potential of technical lignins from Norway spruce (Picea abies) via pyrolysis

Analytical pyrolysis (Py-GC/MS) on mg-scale of Norway spruce (Picea abies)-derived kraft lignin, ethanosolv lignin, and dried lignin-rich soda-anthraquinone (AQ) black liquors was studied at 500 °C to compare the valorization potential of these materials, focusing on the type and yield of condensable pyrolysis products. Of particular interest was the relatively selective formation of guaiacol (2-methoxyphenol) from the dried soda-AQ black liquors in contrast to the formation of complex phenolic product mixtures from the pyrolysis of the kraft and ethanosolv lignins. Design and Assessment of Optimized EMI Filters for Avionic Applications

This paper presents a procedure to design EMI filters to reduce the electromagnetic disturbances generated by electrical apparatus used in avionic environment. The method proposed can be useful to save weight and size of the attenuation systems, and keep their effectiveness in agreement with the standard requirements. A design of a set of different filters with different topological characteristics is presented for a case study about an electrical actuator used for an aircraft onboard application. Performances and reliabilities of the attenuation systems are assessed by suitable full compliance experimental tests.

Ahromatopsijas izpausmju korekcija ar krāsainām kontaktlēcām

MĒRĶIS: Novērtēt filtru kontaktlēcu (KL) pielietojumu ahromatopsijas simptomu korekcijai. METODE: Pētījumā piedalījās 8 dalībnieki (6 sievietes un 2 vīrieši) vecumā no 8 mēnešiem līdz 25 gadiem, periodā no 2012. līdz 2016.gadam. Pēc oftalmoloģiskās pārbaudes un ahromatopsijas noteikšanas, tika veikta speciālās krāsainās KL pielaikošanas procedūra. Pacientu atbildes tika noteiktas ar anketas palīdzību un noteikts apžilbšanas laiks ar un bez piedāvātām KL. SECINĀJUMI: filtru KL samazināja fotofobiju; apžilbšanas laiks kļuvis salīdzināms ar normālā redzes gadījumu; dalībnieki atzinīgi novērtē psiholoģiskos un sociālos ieguvumus ar izrakstītām filtru KL.

Influence of bed roughness on flow and turbulence structure around a partially-buried, isolated freshwater mussel

The present study uses eddy-resolving numerical simulations to investigate how bed roughness affects flow and turbulence structure around an isolated, partially-buried mussel (Unio elongatulus) aligned with the incoming flow. The rough-bed simulations resolve the flow past the exposed part of a gravel bed, whose surface is obtained from a laboratory experiment that also provides some additional data for validation of the numerical model. Results are also discussed for the limiting case of a horizontal smooth bed. Sintonikas ietekme uz miopiju

MĒRĶIS: noteikt sintonikas fototerapijas efektivitāti jauniešiem ar vidējās pakāpes miopiju līdz 3,0D vai nekoriģēto sākotnējo miopiju. METODE: 10 miopi vecumā no 8 līdz 17 gadi. Tika izmantotāss redzes asuma, miopijas pakāpes, akomodācijas amplitūdas, acs zīlītes αω reakcijas un redzes lauka noteikšanas testi. Pēc sākotnējās pārbaudēs dalībnieki tika pakļauti 15 sintonikas seansiem. REZULTĀTI: pēc sintonikas pielietošanas statistiski nozīmīgi uzlabojas akomodācijas amplitūda, redzes asums, acs zīlītes reakcijas - αω un redzes lauks. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia ja verrata keskenään ruman kielen käyttöä kahdella ruotsinkielisellä nuorille suunnatulla keskustelufoorumilla. Keskustelufoorumeista toinen on ruotsinruotsalainen ungdomar.se ja toinen suomenruotsalainen shsweb.fi. Tutkimuskohteena olevalla rumalla kielellä tarkoitetaan kirosanoja, haukkumasanoja, korostavia etuliitteitä sekä muita sanoja, jotka koetaan tabuiksi. Tutkimuksen kohteena on myös vieraiden kielten, erityisesti englannin vaikutus rumaan kielenkäyttöön sekä suomen kielen vaikutus suomenruotsalaisten nuorten kielenkäyttöön.
