This case study investigates the role of agency in the development of two students’ expertise during their participation in the year-long KOO-KIT program (Language Technology for Language Teachers) for pre-service language teachers at the Centre for Applied Language Studies of the University of Jyväskylä in the 2000s.  As of January 2020, all Finnish pupils are to start their foreign language studies in the first grade. This study examined the effects of early language teaching by comparing pupils in grades 1, 2 and 3. The pupils had started studying English in August 2017 and had all had roughly the same number of English lessons by the time of the study in early 2018. The study examined pupils’ attitudes towards English and studying English as well as how pupils use English in their free time. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan suomalaisen perusopetuksen yläkoululaisten vieraan kielen oppimismotivaatiota. Tutkimuksessani selvitin muun muassa oppilaiden vieraiden kielten motivaatioprofiileja, nykyistä kieliminää ennustavia tekijöitä sekä motivaatioprofiilien ja arvosanojen yhteyksiä oppilaiden perusopetuksen jälkeisiin jatkosuunnitelmiin. From the past to the future : self-concepts of English language teachers from Finland and Korea

This article explores 1) how two English language teachers from Finland and Korea develop their self-concept as English learners throughout their English learning trajectory, and 2) the positive motivational effects of self-reflective experiences upon the research participants. To obtain more holistic research findings, a combination of verbal in-depth interviews with visual artworks depicting English learning timeline and self-portraits were used. Tämän tutkielman mielenkiinto kohdistuu seitsemän ensimmäistä lukuvuottaan ruotsia opettavan luokanopettajan motivaatioon, kelpoisuuteen ja ruotsin opet-tajana toimimiseen. Elokuussa 2016 peruskoulun opetussuunnitelman uudis-tumisen myötä ruotsin opetus siirtyi alkamaan kuudennelta luokalta, jolloin ai-neenopettajien lisäksi myös jotkin luokanopettajat alkoivat toimia B1-ruotsin opettajina. Design and Performance Evaluation of a High Power-Density EMI Filter for PWM Inverter-Fed Induction-Motor Drives

This paper presents the design of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter for a low-voltage high-current induction-motor drives supplied by dc power grids. In order to effectively design the EMI filter, a suitable common-mode/differential-mode (CM/DM) separation technique has been used. Due to the high operating currents, the software-based separation technique using time-domain measurements has been applied. The proposed technique allows the CM and DM sections of the EMI filter to be properly selected in a more economical way, i.e., without the need of a dedicated hardware or costly radio frequency (RF) instrumentation. Standardisation of methods for assessing mould germination: a workshop report.

International audience; The first workshop on predictive mycology was held in Marseille, France, 2–4 February 2005 under the auspices of the French Microbiological Society. The purpose of the workshop was to list the different techniques and definitions used by scientists for assessing mould germination and to evaluate the influence of the different techniques on the experimental results. Recommendations were made when a large consensus was obtained. In order to facilitate the study of germination, alternative methods to microscopic examination were examined.
