On several notions of complexity of polynomial progressions

For a polynomial progression $$(x,\; x+P_1(y),\; \ldots,\; x+P_{t}(y)),$$ we define four notions of complexity: Host-Kra complexity, Weyl complexity, true complexity and algebraic complexity. The first two describe the smallest characteristic factor of the progression, the third one refers to the smallest-degree Gowers norm controlling the progression, and the fourth one concerns algebraic relations between terms of the progressions. We conjecture that these four notions are equivalent, which would give a purely algebraic criterion for determining the smallest Host-Kra factor or the smallest Gowers norm controlling a given progression. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutustuttaa lukija Bernoullin polynomeihin, Γ-funktioon ja lukuteoreettisiin Mertensin lauseisiin. Näiden lisäksi tutkitaan erästä lukuteoreettista tuloa, ja esitellään tähän tuloon liittyviä tiettävästi uusia tuloksia. Bernoullin polynomien avulla todistetaan erityisesti Euler-Maclaurinin lause, joka kertoo erilaisten summien ja integraalien välisestä yhteydestä. A 71-year-old man with cryoglobulinemia associated with severe symmetrical sensorimotor polyneuropathy was successfully treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and a corticosteroid. Within 2-3 months, he developed distal motor and sensory deficits and burning feet deteriorating after cold exposure. On examination, symmetric hypesthesia and hypalgesia were found along with bilateral loss of vibration and position sense, loss of ankle jerks, and paralysis of the pretibial muscles with step-page gait. Background —Angiotensin II (Ang II) plays a critical role in the development of vascular lesions in hypertension, atherosclerosis, and several renal diseases. Because Ang II may contribute to the leukocyte recruitment associated with these pathological states, the aim of the present study was to assess the role of Ang II in leukocyte–endothelial cell interactions in vivo. Methods and Results —Intravital microscopy of the rat mesenteric postcapillary venules was used.
