Smart camera design for intensive embedded computing
2005
Computer-assisted vision plays an important role in our society, in various fields such as personal and goods safety, industrial production, telecommunications, robotics, etc. However, technical developments are still rare and slowed down by various factors linked to sensor cost, lack of system flexibility, difficulty of rapidly developing complex and robust applications, and lack of interaction among these systems themselves, or with their environment. This paper describes our proposal for a smart camera with real-time video processing capabilities. A CMOS sensor, processor and, reconfigurable unit associated in the same chip will allow scalability, flexibility, and high performance.
Using an Object-Oriented Approach for Scalable Flexibility in Manufacturing
2012
In this paper, it is briefly explained how to configure the different resource modules that actually control the tasks of the physical device and put together a work cell consisting of other FMS resources. Finally, an example on building a workcell using a hierarchical approach is presented.
Collaborative virtual environments in the year of the dragon
2000
Three suggestions are made for extensions from and to CVE's: awareness of others, multiple media, and scalability. Awareness of others and their activities is strongly desirable in all media and applications, not just in CVE's. Multiple media are not seriously catered for in existing CVE's, and a suitable architecture will precede popular applications. CVE's need to be scalable to greater numbers of people, and achieving this also has implications for greater flexibility and reconfigurability. With respect to awareness of others, we argue that the Web and most document handling applications are unaware of others in the workgroup or community, and this limits the ability to support real work…
Lightweight Privacy-aware yet Accountable Secure Scheme for SM-SGCC communications in smart grid
2011
Abstract Smart grid is envisioned as a critical application of cyber-physical systems and of the internet of things. In the smart grid, smart meters equipped with wireless sensors can upload meter readings (data) to smart grid control and schedule centers via the advanced metering infrastructure to improve power delivery efficiency. However, data gathered in short intervals, such as 15 minutes, will expose customers' detailed daily activities (for example, when they get up and when they use oven) using nonintrusive appliance load monitoring. Thus, data must be hidden to protect customers' privacy. However, data accountability is still required for emergency responses or to trace back suspec…
CADWAN – A Control Architecture for Dense Wi-Fi Access Networks
2018
The growing demands of ubiquitous computing are leading towards the densification of wireless access networks. The challenges of high density deployments can be addressed by network- wide centralized control. To this end we propose CADWAN – a Control Architecture for efficient management of Dense Wi-Fi Access Networks. Its main advantages are: flexibility (it supports software- defined wireless networking), scalability (it uses a three-tier optimization framework), and extendibility (it exploits a unified control interface with support for heterogeneous devices). Furthermore, CADWAN is complementary to ongoing developments in IEEE 802.11, especially 802.11ax.
Improving scalability of web applications based on stability of the network with the use of controller PI
2015
This paper presents mathematical model of a computer network and then the model has been presented in the form of a flow chart. RED algorithm is a standard in computer network. RED algorithm has been replaced with the PI controller. In the article it has been assumed that a computer network is a particular dynamic system and it can be examined using known methods of the theory of dynamic systems. We tested of stability for the real computer networks. This method is called method the uncertain parameters space.
Fluorometric determination of chemically available lysine: adaptation, validation and application to different milk products.
2004
A spectrophotometric method based on the reaction between available lysine and ortho-phthaldialdehyde (OPA) was adapted and validated for fluorometric determination of the chemically available lysine contents in milk matrices (UHT and conventional in-bottle sterilized cow milk, milk-based infant formulas and infant formula ingredients). The values of the analytical parameters show its usefulness as a routine method (linearity, r = 0.9992; detection limit, 0.0066 mg/mL assay; accuracy, 99-108%; precision, intra-day 2.1-5.9% and inter-day 3.5 10.2%). No statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) were found between the values obtained with the adapted method and those obtained applying t…

Impact of conventional and non-conventional processing on prickly pear ( Opuntia spp.) and their derived products: From preservation of beverages to …
2017
Abstract Background In recent years, both food researchers and food industry have shown growing interest in Opuntia fruits, as they constitute a good source of phytochemicals such as phenolics, vitamin C, vitamin E, polysaccharides and betalains. Many of these compounds have shown antioxidant, anti-cancer, antiatherosclerotic and/or hepatoprotective properties. Moreover, the fruit is also a source of dietary fibers, which promote bowel transit, thus preventing constipation. Scope and approach Due to these properties, Opuntia fruits are considered as functional products offering numerous health benefits when are consumed as fresh or processed product. However, these compounds can lose their …
