This chapter presents an imagined future scenario following a tweet by Minister of Interior Maria Ohisalo in June 2020 on Finland’s Government Action Plan for Gender Equality. In our counterfactual imaginary, the government resigns and new elections result in a victory of the Left and Green parties, which were leading the polls at the time. We examine how Finnish higher education (HE) could develop in response to calls for intersectional and anti-oppressive practice on the basis of existing research, the Government Action Plan for Gender Equality, and the Higher Education Accessibility plan. Finland : Success Through Equity : The Trajectories in PISA Performance

The Finnish education system has gone through an exciting developmental path from a follower into a role model. Also on the two-decade history of PISA studies, Finland’s performance has provided years of glory as of the world’s top-performing nation, but also a substantial decline. This chapter examines Finland’s educational outcomes in recent PISA-study and the trends across previous cycles. Boys’ more unsatisfactory performance and the increasing effect of students’ socio-economic background are clear predictors of the declining trend, but they can explain it only partly. Tässä pro gradu-tutkielmassa tarkastellaan sosiaalisen median mikroblogipalvelu Twitterin tuottaman datan tekstianalytiikkaa sekä arvioidaan tämän sovellettavuutta julkishallinnon palvelukseen. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, mitä Twitter-datan tekstianalytiikalla voidaan tutkia, millaisia menetelmiä näissä tutkimuksissa on käytetty ja millaisia tuloksia on saatu. Julkishallinnon osalta mielenkiinnon kohteena on se, kuinka näitä menetelmiä voidaan käyttää julkishallinnon organisaatioiden tekstianalytiikassa. Tensions between the people and parliament over representation are a normal feature of representative democracies. In this paper, we demonstrate how digital humanities analysis tools help in answering questions about the timing of debates on popular representation, tensions over its realization, and representatives’ changing perceptions on their parliamentary role. Our long-term approach to the conceptual history of political representation is based on the analysis of digitized parliamentary debates as nexuses of multi-sited political discourse. Of the 12 different tools and platforms that are used in citizen science activities, the top three were websites, smartphones and databases. Respondents to a survey conducted by the CS Track project indicated that they used technology primarily for gathering scientific data and knowledge as well as for communication and dissemination of information with other enthusiasts and researchers. nonPeerReviewed
