Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) represent a rare and heterogeneous group of solid tumours derived from mesenchymal progenitors and account for 1% of all adult malignancies. Educar para la salud en tiempos de pandemia

La experiencia de la pandemia que estamos viviendo exige repensar la educación para la salud. En este trabajo lo hacemos a partir de dos conceptos procedentes de la Declaración Universal de los Derecho Humanos: primero, entender que el fin de la educación es el pleno desarrollo de la persona; y segundo, que los deberes para con la comunidad contribuyen a ese desarrollo. A partir de ellos, defendemos una concepción de la educación para la salud basada en el carácter relacional del ser humano, en la relevancia de los determinantes sociales de la salud y en los peligros del entorno digital, a pesar de los enormes beneficios que ha aportado durante la pandemia.

In his editorial “Dear DORA”, Howy Jacobs commented on the recent San Francisco Declaration of Research Assessment (DORA) to address the misuse of the journal impact factor (IF) and discussed alternatives. DORA stipulates that the IF must not be used as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles, or to assess an individual scientist's contributions in hiring, promotion and funding decisions. Conjugating pillararene dye in dye-sensitized solar cells

Summary The improvement of open-circuit voltage (VOC) is a crucial goal to develop efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Here, conjugating pillar[5]arene dyes (PPI and PPII) are designed, synthesized, and applied in DSSCs. The presence of pillar[5]arene moiety in the dyes inhibits the dye aggregation and charge recombination in the DSSCs, leading to the enhancement of VOC. PPI with a single D-π-A backbone and a pillar[5]arene moiety achieves a VOC of 715 mV, which is much higher than the reference dye (VOC of 674 mV) with the same D-π-A backbone but no pillar[5]arene moiety. Multinucleon transfer reactions in closed-shell nuclei

Multinucleon transfer reactions in 40Ca+96Zr and 90Zr+208Pb have been measured at energies close to the Coulomb barrier in a high resolution gamma-particle coincidence experiment. The large solid angle magnetic spectrometer PRISMA coupled to the CLARA gamma-array has been employed. Trajectory reconstruction has been applied for the complete identification of transfer products. Mass and charge yields, total kinetic energy losses, gamma transitions of the binary reaction partners, and comparison of data with semiclassical calculations are reported. Confinement in Wendelstein 7-X limiter plasmas

Observations on confinement in the first experimental campaign on the optimized Stellarator Wendelstein 7-X are summarized. In this phase W7-X was equipped with five inboard limiters only and thus the discharge length restricted to avoid local overheating. Stationary plasmas are limited to low densities <2–3 · 1019 m−3. With the available 4.3 MW ECR Heating core Te ~ 8 keV, Ti ~ 1–2 keV are achieved routinely resulting in energy confinement time τE between 80 ms to 150 ms. For these conditions the plasmas show characteristics of core electron root confinement with peaked Te-profiles and positive Er up to about half of the minor radius. Magnetic configuration effects on the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator

The two leading concepts for confining high-temperature fusion plasmas are the tokamak and the stellarator. Tokamaks are rotationally symmetric and use a large plasma current to achieve confinement, whereas stellarators are non-axisymmetric and employ three-dimensionally shaped magnetic field coils to twist the field and confine the plasma. As a result, the magnetic field of a stellarator needs to be carefully designed to minimize the collisional transport arising from poorly confined particle orbits, which would otherwise cause excessive power losses at high plasma temperatures. Overview of diagnostic performance and results for the first operation phase in Wendelstein 7-X (invited)

Wendelstein 7-X, a superconducting optimized stellarator built in Greifswald/Germany, started its first plasmas with the last closed flux surface (LCFS) defined by 5 uncooled graphite limiters in December 2015. At the end of the 10 weeks long experimental campaign (OP1.1) more than 20 independent diagnostic systems were in operation, allowing detailed studies of many interesting plasma phenomena.
