<title>Optical models used for the study of laser beam</title>

2007

The study of the laser beam is based on optical models, therefore optical models are suited as a tool for study, implement and evaluate the characteristics of an unfocused laser beam. The analysis of the optical models shows the characteristics of pulse and continuous laser beam and the influence over the quality of the industrial process.© (2007) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Depassivation Experiments by Laser‐Pulse‐Induced Spallation

1992

Depassivation experiments have been conducted by applying a technique developed for adhesion tests. A laser-pulse-induced spallation of the passive film is induced in situ without any contact between the laser beam and the passive film. The depassivation is controlled by the short pressures induced at the metal-film interface. The interfacial stresses at the metal-film interface could be studied by this technique

Measurement of high order Kerr refractive index of major air components: erratum

2010

A clarification is missing concerning the high order Kerr non-linearities deduced from our experimental data published in [Opt. Express 17, 13429-13434 (2009)]. Here, we rectify this omission by making explicit the distinction between cross-Kerr and Kerr effects, and by extrapolating the value of the nonlinear refractive index for the last effect. Since the occurrence of sign inversion in the Kerr effect is not affected, the overall report in [Opt. Express 17, 13429-13434] remains valid.

980nm laser for difficult-to-treat basal cell carcinoma

2013

Abstract Begin basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is most common skin cancer over the world. There are around 20 modalities for BCC treatment. Laser surgery is uncommon option. We demonstrate our long term follow up results. Aim:To evaluate long term efficacy of a 980nm diode laser for the difficult-to-treat basal cell carcinoma. Materials and Methods: 167 patients with 173 basal cell carcinoma on the nose were treated with a 980 nm diode laser from May 1999 till May 2005 at Latvian Oncology center. All tumors were morphologically confirmed. 156 patients were followed for more than 5 years. Results: The lowest recurrence rate was observed in cases of superficial BCC, diameter<6mm; bet the highes…

Graded reflectivity micromirror arrays

2002

A technique for fabricating arrays of graded reflectivity micromirrors with diameters as small as 25 microm is reported. It is based on laser-induced physical vapor deposition through microholes on a thin free-standing noncontact mask, and it is suitable for applications in micro-optics and solid-state laser technology.

Light shifts are an important source of noise and systematics in optically pumped magnetometers. We demonstrate that the long spin-coherence time in paraffin-coated cells leads to spatial averaging of the vector light shift over the entire cell volume. This renders the averaged vector light shift independent, under certain approximations, of the light-intensity distribution within the sensor cell. Importantly, the demonstrated averaging mechanism can be extended to other spatially varying phenomena in anti-relaxation-coated cells with long coherence times.
