Dating archeological lead artifacts from measurement of the corrosion content using the voltammetry of microparticles.

A methodology for dating archeological lead artifacts based on the voltammetry of microparticles is described. This methodology is based on the comparison of the height of speci¿c voltammetric features from PbO2 and PbO corrosion products formed under long-term alteration conditions. Calibration of the method was performed with the help of a series of well-documented lead pieces from the funds of di¿erent museums of the Comunitat Valenciana (Spain) covering from the ¿fth century B.C. to present day. CsPbCl3 nanocrystals dispersed in the Rb0,8Cs0,2Cl matrix studied by far-infrared spectroscopy

Abstract The comparative far-infrared spectroscopy studies of Rb0.8Cs0.2Cl and Rb0.8Cs0.2Cl containing CsPbCl3 nanocrystals between 170 and 320 K are reported. The effect of cesium lead chloride nanocrystals on the phonon modes of the host matrix, particularly manifested in different temperature behavior of LO–TO splitting and the temperature dependence of high frequency dielectric constant, are demonstrated.

Dyes That Bear Thiazolylazo Groups as Chromogenic Chemosensors for Metal Cations

A family of dyes (L 1-L 6) that contain a thiazolylazo group as signalling subunit and several macrocyclic cavities with different ring sizes and type and number of heteroatoms as binding sites has been synthesized and characterized. Solutions of L 1-L 6 in acetonitrile show broad and structureless absorption bands in the 554-577 nm range with typicalmolar absorption coefficients that range from 20000 to 32000 M -1 cm -1. A detailed protonation study was carried out with solutions of L 1, L 2 and L 5 in acetonitrile. Child-centered and teacher-directed practices in relation to calculation and word problem solving skills

Abstract This study examined transactional associations between classroom-level math skills and teaching practices. Participants were 523 children from 31 classrooms. Math skills were assessed three times. Teaching practices were observed in Grades 1 and 3. Child-centered practices promoted subsequent calculation skills whereas teacher-directed practices were associated with a lower level of calculation skills. Higher problem-solving skills at Grade 2 predicted more child-centered practices and less teacher-directed practices in third grade. Immobilization of reagents by polymeric materials. Determination of metamizol

Abstract A method for immobilization of inorganic reagents, based on the dispersion of the reagent into an unsaturated polyester solution is applied to immobilization of lead dioxide. The obtained solid is of application in a flow-injection manifold for indirect atomic absorption determination of metamizol in pharmaceutical formulations. The procedure gives a linear calibration graph up to 6 ppm of metamizol with a relative standard deviation of 1.6% (3.0 mg/l) and a sample throughput of 72 hr−1.

Continuous flow-injection-atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of Ondansetron

Abstract A flow-injection procedure for the indirect determination of the new drug Ondansetron is proposed. The method is based on the reaction of the drug in an oxidative solid-phase reactor included in the flow assembly. The reactor was made by lead dioxide physically entrapped by polymerization; the released lead(II) was monitored by atomic absorption spectrometry at 217.0 nm. The procedure gave a linear calibration graph up to 20 μg ml−1 of Ondansetron with a sample throughput of 338 samples h−1.
