Weight Adaptation Stability of Linear and Higher-Order Neural Units for Prediction Applications

This paper is focused on weight adaptation stability analysis of static and dynamic neural units for prediction applications. The aim of this paper is to provide verifiable conditions in which the weight system is stable during sample-by-sample adaptation. The paper presents a novel approach toward stability of linear and higher-order neural units. A study of utilization of linear and higher-order neural units with the foundations on stability of the gradient descent algorithm for static and dynamic models is addressed.

Dynamic gene-regulatory networks are complex since the interaction patterns between their components mean that it is impossible to study parts of the network in separation. Realizing Undelayed N-step TD prediction with neural networks

There exist various techniques to extend reinforcement learning algorithms, e.g., eligibility traces and planning. In this paper, an approach is proposed, which combines several extension techniques, such as using eligibility-like traces, using approximators as value functions and exploiting the model of the environment. The obtained method, ‘Undelayed n-step TD prediction’ (TD-P), has produced competitive results when put in conditions of not fully observable environment.

Temporal difference method for processing dynamic speckle patterns

A temporal difference method for processing dynamic speckle images is proposed. In the method two speckle images of an object, separated by a time interval, are subtracted one from the other to detect whether the speckle structure has changed or not. The rationale of the method is discussed. A variant of the method that allows measuring the area of an activity zone surrounded by a static region is tested in digital simulations. As a demonstrative experiment, that variant is employed to characterize the drying of a damp patch in filter paper.

Developmental dyslexia is a specific learning disorder with impairments in reading and spelling acquisition. Apart from literacy problems, dyslexics show inefficient speech encoding and deficient novel word learning, with underlying problems in phonological processing and learning.
