Improvement of biphasic polymerization by application of binary ionic liquid mixture

Abstract The mixture of two ionic liquids, 1- n -butyl-3-methylimidazolium and 1-(2-phenylethyl)-3-methylimidazolium chloroaluminates, [C 4 -mim][AlCl 4 ] and [PhC 2 -mim][AlCl 4 ], were applied as a medium to immobilize the Cp 2 TiCl 2 titanocene catalyst for biphasic ionic liquid/hexane ethylene polymerization. The system makes possible to perform the reaction at lower temperatures, below the melting temperature of the aralkyl ionic liquid. A better separation of the ionic liquid phase was observed and an easier mass transfer of the polymer product from the ionic liquid to the hexane phase was obtained. An organic/inorganic hybrid salt is obtained by combination of the photochromic nitroprusside complex with the organic donor TTF. The organic part shows an unprecedented 2D organization formed by an orthogonal arrangement of TTF hexamers and monomers. However, the donor layers are formed by pairs of moderately interacting dimeric (TTF)22+ units surrounded by neutral TTF molecules in such a way that the charge is localized and the compound is a semiconductor. Short contacts between the organic layers and the nitroprusside anions are present that may affect the photophysical properties of the nitroprusside.

Über die cyclopolymerisation einiger bis-(N-vinyl)-verbindungen

Durch Umsetzung von Vinylisocyanat mitAthylenglykol, Butandiol-1,4, Hexandiol-1,6, Octandiol-1,8, Brenzcatechin, Resorcin, Hydrochinon, cis- und trans-Chinit sowie Piperazin wurden die entsprechenden Bis-(N-vinyl)-Verbindungen hergestellt. Diese Monomeren werden unter gleichen Bedingungen radikalisch polymerisiert. Der Gehalt an seitenstandigen N-Vinylgruppen ergibt sich aus der bei saurer Hydrolyse gebildeten Menge Acetaldehyd. A novel synthesis of 2-aryl-4-piperidones by mannich cyclization of iminoketals

2-Aryl-4-piperidones have been synthesized by condensation between an aromatic aldehyde and a β-aminoketone ethylene ketal, and further cyclization of the resulting iminoketal with dry hydrogen chloride or anhydrous p-toluensulfonic acid. Alternatively, reaction of the above iminoketals with methyl fluorosulfonate followed by dry hydrogen chloride treatment and acid hydrolysis gives directly N-methyl-4-piperidones. The application of these reactions to the synthesis of some 2-aryl-3-acetylpyrrolidine systems is also described.
