2008

I review quark model studies for pion photoproduction and Compton scattering off nucleons. The important role of unitarity and electromagnetic gauge invariance is stressed.

High-resolution spectroscopy and preliminary global analysis of C–H stretching vibrations of C2H4 in the 3000 and 6000cm−1 regions

2010

Abstract Ethylene (ethene, H2C=CH2) is a naturally occurring compound in ambient air that affects atmospheric chemistry and global climate. The C2H4 spectrum is available in databases only for the 1000 and 3000 cm−1 ranges. In this work, the ethylene absorption spectrum was measured in the 6030–6250 cm−1 range with the use of a high resolution Bruker IFS 125HR Fourier-spectrometer and a two-channel opto-acoustic spectrometer with a diode laser. As a secondary standard of wavelengths, the methane absorption spectrum was used in both cases. A preliminary analysis was realized thanks to the tensorial formalism developed by the Dijon group that is implemented in the XTDS software package [39] .…

New assignments in the 2μm transparency window of the 12CH4 Octad band system

2013

Abstract This paper reports new assignments of rovibrational transitions of 12 CH 4 bands in the range 4600–4887  cm −1 which is usually referred to as a part of the 2 μm methane transparency window. Several experimental data sources for methane line positions and intensities were combined for this analysis. Three long path Fourier transform spectra newly recorded in Reims with 1603 m absorption path length and pressures of 1, 7 and 34 hPa for samples of natural abundance CH 4 provided new measurements of 12 CH 4 lines. Older spectra for 13 CH 4 (90% purity) from JPL with 73 m absorption path length were used to identify the corresponding lines. Most of the lines in this region belong to th…

Coronal magnetograms of solar active regions

2004

A series of coronal magnetograms, related to the active region NOAA 9068 is derived using the effects of the quasi-transverse (QT-) propagation at microwaves. In the assumption that the product of the electron density N and the scale of magnetic divergence Ld is constant and equal to 10 18 cm −2 , the sensitivity of the measurements peaks at B(G) ≈ 180 λ −4/3 (cm), where λ is the observational wavelength. The radio maps of the Sun taken with the Solar Siberian Radio Telescope (SSRT) at λ =5 .2 cm were sampled and converted into the 2D coronal magnetograms supplying absolute values of the total magnetic vector B in the range 10 - 30 G. Each coronal magnetogram covers the portion of the mic…

FARCOS: a versatile and modular Femtoscopy Array for Correlations and Spectroscopy

2012

In the framework of multi-fragmentation experiments the evolution towards two- (or more) particle correlations with stable and radioactive beams calls for the development of a novel detection system featuring high angular and energy resolution and able to reconstruct the particles momentum at high precision. The proposed detection system, named FARCOS (Femtoscopy ARray for COrrelations and Spectroscopy) will be beneficial for different physical cases. To this aim we are building a prototype detection system featuring four telescopes. Each telescope features an active area of 6.4 cm × 6.4 cm and is composed of three detection stages. The first ΔE stage is a Double Sided Silicon Strip Detecto…

Modulational instability and critical regime in a highly birefringent fiber

1996

We report experimental observations of modulational instability of copropagating waves in a highly birefringent fiber for the normal dispersion regime. We first investigate carefully the system behavior by means of nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations and phase-matching conditions, and then, experimentally, we use two distinct techniques for observing MI (modulational instability) in the fiber; namely, the single-frequency copropagation, where two pump waves of identical frequency copropagate with orthogonal polarizations parallel to the two birefringence axes of the fiber, and the two-frequency copropagation, where the two polarized waves copropagate with different frequencies. In both cases …

Towards direct measurements of remitted photon path lengths in skin: kinetic studies in the range 520-800 nm

2019

Skin-remitted picosecond laser pulses have been detected at variable input-output fiber distances (8 … 20 mm) in the spectral range 520-800 nm, with subsequent analysis of the pulse shape changes. Transfer functions representing the temporal responses of remitted photons to infinitely narrow δ-pulse excitation have been calculated. Parameters related to the photon path length in skin – input-output pulse peak delays, pulse FWHM, travel times of the “initial” photons and distributions of the remitted photon path lengths – are presented and analyzed. The measurement results are in general agreement with the photon propagation model expectations

Surface relief grating formation in amorphous As40S15Se45 and As2S3 films under 0.532 μm wavelength illumination

2014

In this research we have studied the influence of λ = 0.532 μm laser light illumination on the formation and properties of surface relief gratings in amorphous As2S3 and As40Se15Se45 films, as well as a bulk As2S3 sample. The surface relief grating formation was studied for a wide range of grating periods (∼1 – ∼80 μm) for the variable thicknesses of the samples. The examination of the relief depth, Δh, and its dependence on the grating period at constant exposures shows that the impact of sample thickness could manifest itself as a shift in the optimal grating period at holographic surface relief formation (As2S3) and affect the process itself.

Influence of the AC voltage frequency on the oscillation trajectory and path length of particles inside a planar–type electric curtain

2015

Abstract Experimental investigations of the average path length of oscillating dust particles inside a planar –type electric curtain (PTEC) are presented as a function of the frequency of the AC voltage. The frequency was adjusted within the range of 10–300 Hz. The oscillation paths of feldspar particles of diameter 40–60 μm inside a small cloud were recorded photographically. The main purpose of this investigation was to study the changes in average path length as a function of the supply voltage frequency. These results can be used to improve the precipitation and separation processes for charged dust particles inside a PTEC.
