Structure of chloroantimonates(III) with an imidazolium cation: (C3H5N2)[SbCl4] and (C3H5N2)2[SbCl5]

Abstract Two different chloroantimonates(III) with an imidazolium cation have been synthesized by the reaction of antimony trichloride and imidazole in an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid. The crystals of (C3H5N2)[SbCl4] are monoclinic, space group C2/c, while (C3H5N2)2[SbCl5] crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pbcn. Both crystals are built of one dimensional zig-zag chains composed of [SbCl6]3− octahedra connected by edges and corners, respectively. The cavities between inorganic chains are filled by imidazolium cations. Design of new DNA-interactive agents by molecular docking and QSPR approach

The design of new series of pyrrolo-pyrimidine derivatives, further annelated with a third heterocycle of different size, which also present several chain shape moieties of variable length and with different physico-chemical character, is reported. In this contribution we showed that the combination of docking-based and QSPR-based methods could lead to good models for ligand-DNA interaction prediction. By means of these computational approaches on 360 proposed inhibitors, we were able to select the most promising candidates as DNA-interactive drugs potentially endowed with antitumor activity.

The cross-sectional study has been based on the implementation of the Obstetric Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol (OAEP) in seven hospitals to determine inappropriate hospital admissions and days of stay. The outcomes were: inappropriateness of admission and "percentage of inappropriateness" for one hospitalization. A total number of 2196 clinical records were reviewed. The mean percentage of inappropriateness for hospitalization was 22%. The percentage of inappropriateness for the first 10 d of hospitalization peaked in correspondence of the fourth (42%). Water-soluble copolymers from mono-1-alkyl itaconates and N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone are synthesized and characterized. Themono-1-alkyl itaconates are prepared from itaconic anhydride and the related alcohol: 1-dodecanol, 1-octadecanol, 1-docosanol, and 1-triacontanol. The mono-1-triacontyl itaconate is synthesized fromplant growth regulator policosanols extracted from Agave fourcrouydes, where 1-triacontanol is the major product. Quantitative XPS analysis of leached layers on optical glasses

The corrosion of optical glasses often reduces the utility of uncoated glasses as well as the adhesion of resistive coatings deposited onto corroded glasses. Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was applied to study glass surfaces with respect to their surface corrosion. In particular, leaching by the influence of polish slurries, pure water, air and even residual gases inside a vacuum device was studied in detail. This is a continuous optimization problem where a fleet of homogeneous drones have to jointly service (traverse) a set of (curved or straight) lines of a network. Unlike the vehicles in classical arc routing problems, a drone can enter a line through any of its points, service a portion of that line, exit through another of its points, then travel directly to any point on another line, and so on. High-resolution Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry observations of relativistic jets are essential to constrain fundamental parameters of jet formation models. At a distance of 249 Mpc, Cygnus A is a unique target for such studies, being the only Fanaroff-Riley Class II radio galaxy for which a detailed sub-parsec scale imaging of the base of both jet and counter-jet can be obtained. Observing at millimeter wavelengths unveils those regions which appear self-absorbed at longer wavelengths and enables an extremely sharp view towards the nucleus to be obtained. The influence of circumnuclear environment on the radio emission from TDE jets

Dozens of stellar tidal disruption events (TDEs) have been identified at optical, UV and X-ray wavelengths. A small fraction of these, most notably Swift J1644+57, produce radio synchrotron emission, consistent with a powerful, relativistic jet shocking the surrounding circumnuclear gas. The dearth of similar non-thermal radio emission in the majority of TDEs may imply that powerful jet formation is intrinsically rare, or that the conditions in galactic nuclei are typically unfavorable for producing a detectable signal.
