Perpendicular transport properties of YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}/PrBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta} superlattices

The coupling between the superconducting planes of YBa2Cu3O{7-\delta}/ PrBa2Cu3O{7-\delta} superlattices has been measured by c-axis transport. We show that only by changing the thickness of the superconducting YBa2Cu3O{7-\delta} layers, it is possible to switch between quasi-particle and Josephson tunneling. From our data we deduce a low temperature c-axis coherence length of 0.27 nm.
Gravity modelling of the lower crust in Sardinia (Italy)

In this paper an example is given of an application of statistical techniques to the Bouguer anomalies analysis in order to design a simple crustal model using few a priori assumptions. All gravity measurements carried out in Sardinia have been collected and processed. The Bouguer anomalies have been calculated according to local density estimates. Spectral analysis of the Bouguer anomalies has been carried out along selected profiles in order to estimate the mean depth of the Moho discontinuity and that of an infracrustal discontinuity. Synthesis and crystal structure of the low-spin iron(II) complex [Fe(bpz)3](ClO4)2·H2O (bpz=2,2′-bipyrazine)

Abstract The crystal structure of the title compound [Fe(bpz) 3 ](ClO 4 ) 2 · H 2 O (bpz=2,2 ′ -bipyrazine) has been determined by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study at 293(2) K. The complex is monoclinic, P 2 1 / c , a =17.263(3), b =9.983(2), c =17.921(4) A, β =107.94(3)°, V =2938.3(10) A 3 , Z =4, R =0.073 and R w =0.118. The structure is made up of tris-chelated [Fe(bpz) 3 ] 2+ cations, uncoordinated perchlorate anions and crystallization water molecules. The iron atom exhibits a FeN 6 distorted octahedral geometry with average Fe–N bond length and N–Fe–N bidentate angle of 1.962(5) A and 81.6(2)°. The preparation and crystal structure of two oxalato-bridged NaI–FeIII compounds, [Na3Fe(ox)3(H2O)4]·H2O (1) and [FeII(phen)3][NaFe(ox)3(H2O)3]·4H2O (5), two mononuclear FeIII complexes AsPh4[Fe(bipy)(ox)2]·H2O (3) and AsPh4[Fe(phen)(ox)2]·H2O (4) and an oxalato-bridged FeIII compound [AsPh4]4[Fe2(ox)5]·5H2O (2) (ox = oxalate dianion, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenantroline and AsPh4+ = tetraphenylarsonium cation) are reported here. Two new cyano complexes, K[Fe(bipy)(CN)4]·H2O (1) and (μ-bipym)[Mn(H2O)3{Fe(bipy)(CN)4}]2[Fe(bipy)(CN)4]2·12H2O (2), have been synthesised and their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is made up of mononuclear [Fe(bipy)(CN)4]− anions, potassium cations and water molecules of crystallization. The iron(III) is six-coordinated, being surrounded by two nitrogen atoms of a chelating bipy and four carbon atoms of four cyanide groups [Fe–N and Fe–C 1.991(3)–1.990(3) and 1.958(5)–1.914(5) A, respectively]. Abstract An infrared spectroscopy based methodology has been successfully developed to implement contamination prevention programs in the pesticide industry. Sensitivity of the IR procedure, traditionally considered the Achilles Hell of the technique, has been improved by using a transmission cell with an open upper side, an internal volume of 35 µL and an optical pathlength of 0.5 mm, providing detection limits of 32 mg L−1 for folpet and 48 mg L−1 for cymoxanil. The manufacturing of folpet and cymoxanil was employed as an example and the IR methodology was validated for the implementation of contamination prevention programs in the pesticide industry. The term Diagnosis-Related Group DRG) refers to a classification system used to assess hospital services with the aim of streamling health care costs and improving performance. The DRG system focuses on the utilization of resources, and is not concerned with the specific type of care provided to the patient. This system highlights any diseconomies and eventual critical aspects of the hospital system. This article examines the variables used to correctly evaluate hospital performance based on the DRG system. These include: Average length of Stay, Average Daily Patients Load, Comparative Performance Index and Case Mix Index.
