Study ofB¯→Xuℓν¯decays inBB¯events tagged by a fully reconstructedB-meson decay and determination of|Vub|

2012

We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays Bbar --> Xu l nubar, and the determination of the CKM matrix element |V_{ub}|. The analysis is based on a sample of 467 million Upsilon(4S) --> BBar decays recorded with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II e^+ e^- storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions DeltaB in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element |V_{ub}| based on four different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum…

Measurement and interpretation of moments in inclusive semileptonic decays ¯¯¯B→Xcℓ−¯ν

2010

We present results for the moments of observed spectra in inclusive semileptonic B-meson decays to charm hadrons (B) over bar -> X(c)l(-)(nu) over bar. Moments of the hadronic-mass and the combined mass-and-energy spectra for different minimum electron or muon momenta between 0.8 and 1: 9 GeV/c are obtained from a sample of 232 X 10(6) Gamma(4S) -> B (B) over bar events, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-meson factory at SLAC. We also present a reevaluation of the moments of electron-energy spectra and partial decay fractions B((B) over bar -> X(c)e(-)(nu) over bar) for minimum electron momenta between 0.6 and 1: 5 GeV/c based on a sample of 51 X 10(6) Gamm…

Weak kaon production off the nucleon

2010

The weak kaon production off the nucleon induced by neutrinos is studied at the low and intermediate energies of interest for some ongoing and future neutrino oscillation experiments. This process is also potentially important for the analysis of proton decay experiments. We develop a microscopical model based on the SU(3) chiral Lagrangians. The basic parameters of the model are f pi, the pion decay constant, Cabibbo's angle, the proton and neutron magnetic moments, and the axial vector coupling constants for the baryons octet, D and F, that are obtained from the analysis of the semileptonic decays of neutron and hyperons. The studied mechanisms are the main source of kaon production for n…

Weak quasielastic production of hyperons

2006

The quasielastic weak production of $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ hyperons from nucleons and nuclei induced by antineutrinos is studied in the energy region of some ongoing neutrino oscillation experiments in the intermediate energy region. The hyperon nucleon transition form factors determined from neutrino nucleon scattering and an analysis of high precision data on semileptonic decays of neutron and hyperons using SU(3) symmetry have been used. The nuclear effects due to Fermi motion and final state interaction effects due to hyperon nucleon scattering have also been studied. The numerical results for differential and total cross sections have been presented.

Study of dynamics ofD0→K−e+νeandD0→π−e+νedecays

2015

In an analysis of a 2.92 fb(-1) data sample taken at 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we measure the absolute decay branching fractions B(D-0 -> K(-)e(+)nu(e)) = (3.505 +/- 0.014 +/- 0.033)% and B(D-0 -> pi(-)e(+)nu(e)) = (0.295 +/- 0.004 +/- 0.003)%. From a study of the differential decay rates we obtain the products of hadronic form factor and the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element f(+)(K)(0)vertical bar V-cs vertical bar = 0.7172 +/- 0.0025 +/- 0.0035 and f(+)(pi)(0)vertical bar V-cd vertical bar = 0.1435 +/- 0.0018 +/- 0.0009. Combining these products with the values of vertical bar V-cs(d)vertical bar from the SM constrain…

Search for the decayB+→τ+ντ

2006

We search for the rare leptonic decay B^+ → τ^+ν_τ in a sample of 232 × 10^6 BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B-Factory. Signal events are selected by examining the properties of the B meson recoiling against the semileptonic decay B^- → D^9*0)l^-ν_ l. We find no evidence for a signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(B^+ → τ^+ν_τ)<2.8 × 10^9-4) at the 90% confidence level. We combine this result with a previous, statistically independent BABAR search for B+→τ+ντ to give an upper limit of B(B^+ → τ^+ν_τ)<2.6 × 10^(-4) at the 90% confidence level.

Measurements of Partial Branching Fractions forB¯→Xulν¯and Determination of|Vub|

2008

We present partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays (B) over bar -> X(u)l (nu) over bar, and the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar. The analysis is based on a sample of 383 x 10(6) gamma(4S) decays into B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e(+)e(-) storage rings. We select events using the invariant mass M-X of the hadronic system, the invariant mass squared, q(2), of the lepton and neutrino pair, the kinematic variable P+, or one of their combinations. We then determine partial branching fractions in limited regions of phase space: Delta B = (1.18 +/- 0.09(stat) …

Measurement of the Branching Fraction For the Semileptonic Decay D0(+)→π−(0)μ+νμ and Test of Lepton Flavor Universality

2018

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb(-1) taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we perform an analysis of the semileptonic decays D0(+) -> pi(-(0))mu(+)nu(mu ). The branching fractions of D-0 -> pi(-)mu(+)nu(mu), and D+ -> pi(0)mu(+)nu(mu ) are measured to be (0.272 +/- 0.008(start) +/- 0.006(syst))% and (0.350 +/- 0.011(star) +/- 0.010(syst))%, respectively, where the former is of much improved precision compared to previous results and the latter is determined for the first time. Using these results along with previous BESIII measurements of D0(+) -> pi(-(0))e(+)nu(e), we calculate the bra…

2008

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 342 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II electron-positron storage ring operating at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, we measure B(tau(-)->pi(-)pi(-)pi(+)nu(tau)(ex.K-S(0)))=(8.83 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.13)%, B(tau(-)-> K-pi(-)pi(+)nu(tau)(ex.K-S(0)))=(0.273 +/- 0.002 +/- 0.009)%, B(tau(-)-> K-pi K--(+)nu(tau))=(0.1346 +/- 0.0010 +/- 0.0036)%, and B(tau(-)-> K-K-K+nu(tau))=(1.58 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.12)x10(-5), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These include significant improvements over previous measurements and a first measurement of B(tau(-)-> K-K-K+nu(tau)) in which no re…

Measurement of the Ratio ofB+andB0Meson Lifetimes

2005

The ratio of the B+ and B-0 meson lifetimes was measured using data collected in 2002-2004 by the D0 experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. These mesons were reconstructed in BRμ(+)ν D*-X decays, which are dominated by B-0 and BRμ(+)ν(D) over bar X-0 decays, which are dominated by B+. The ratio of lifetimes is measured to be τ(+)/τ(0)=1.080P 0.016(stat)P 0.014(syst).
