Because of their ambiguous position between irrational frailty and rational choice, the emotions play a strategic role in Thucydides’ narrative system as well as in his historiographical paradigm. This paper aims at demonstrating the importance of emotions in particular circumstances: ekplexis (and kataplexis) as expressions of fear. The analysis of some crucial passages shows indeed the importance of fear within the historian’s view, where it is presented as a sentiment, both negative and positive, useful to the decision-making in the polis of the fifth century.

This essay reconstructs the historical circumstances of the discovery of Altichiero’s frescoes and the consequent discussions among connoisseurs concerning the autography and the cultural value of the same. Na Śląsku, podobnie jak w innych regionach Polski, odnotowujemy sporą liczbę nazw nazywających skrzyp ‘Equisetum’. Według danych Atlasu językowego Śląska A. Zaręby nazwy skrzypu układają się w dość przejrzyste strefy geograficzne. Na północ od izoleksy Chocianowice (pow. kluczborski) i Stare Budkowice (pow. opolski) występują warianty leksemu kostka. Na Śląsku środkowym, po Chełm Śląski (pow. tyski), Bełk (pow. rybnicki), Rogów (pow. wodzisławski) spotykamy przęckę. Zaś poniżej tej linii, na Śląsku południowym, mamy strefę mieszaną z wariantami nazw kocur, chwost i kocycoł. Opis materiałów zgromadzonych w kartotece Słownika gwar śląskich uzupełnia ten obraz. Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīti līdzekļi finanšu terminoloģijas mācīšanai. Teorētiskajā daļā apskatītas terminoloģijas un leksikas galvenās īpašības, mācīšanas metodes un aktivitātes, analizēts finanšu diskurss. Empīriskās daļas mērķis ir noskaidrot, kuras metodes un aktivitātes ir piemērotas finanšu terminoloģijas mācīšanai pieaugušajiem. Pētījuma dati tika iegūti analizējot novērojumus un studentu progresu. Iegūtie dati liecina, ka pieaugušie var mācīties finanšu terminoloģiju, izmantojot arī tradicionālās mācīšanas metodes, taču saskaņā ar studentu sniegto informāciju, inovatīvas mācību metodes un aktivitātes ir noderīgākas un patīkamākas. Monte Carlo dosimetric study of the Flexisource Co-60 high dose rate source.

Purpose: Recently, a new HDR 60 Co brachytherapy source, Flexisource Co-60, has been developed (Nucletron B.V. Veenendaal, The Netherlands). This study aims to obtain dosimetric data for this source for its use in clinical practice as required by AAPM and ESTRO. Material and methods: Two Monte Carlo radiation transport codes were used: Penelope2008 and GEANT4. The source was centrally-positioned in a 100 cm radius water phantom. Absorbed dose and collisional kerma were obtained using 0.01 cm (close) and 0.1 cm (far) sized voxels to provide high-resolution dosimetry near (far from) the source. Species of the genus Isoplexis are of particular interest with respect to the biochemical pathway leading to the cardenolides.
