Khaldūn has been compared to Machiavelli, Bodin, Vico, Montesquieu, Adam Smith, Condorcet, Hegel, August Comte, Herbert Spencer and many other Western thinkers. His economic analysis has been compared to that of Marx. Although many associate his work with that of sociology and the social sciences, because of its focus on the observation of reality, others question this analogy because of the absence of a scientific method. His pioneering reflections and some of the concepts he developed, such as that of solidarity, still appear to be of extreme heuristic value for the social sciences from an unprecedented point of view.

Darbs “Eiropas Savienības solidaritātes klauzula kā krīzes vadības instruments” izstrādāts ar mērķi aplūkot solidaritātes klauzulas ietvaru un analizēt vai šis instruments būtu uzskatāms par atbilstošu krīžu un katastrofu pārvaldīšanai. Pētījuma balstīts uz salīdzinošo pētījumu metodi. Analīzes veikšanai izmantotas solidaritātes teorija un krīžu un katastrofas pārvaldības teorijas katastrofu pārvaldības cikls. Esto por una parte, es reflejo del crisol de entidades con características diferentes; de la adaptación requerida a las necesidades del territorio o de la actividad; y a qué es lo que queremos medir y en base a qué. Karsta reljefa morfoloģija Skaistkalnes karsta kriteņu teritorijā

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izzināt tipisku karsta izplatības areālu, izmantojot līdzšinējo pētījumu datus un analizējot LiDAR (tulk. - Light Detection And Ranging) datus, lai iegūtu pilnīgāku priekšstatu par karsta izpausmēm zemes virspusē. Pētījums veikts īpaši aizsargātā dabas teritorijā – ģeoloģiskajā un ģeomorfoloģiskajā dabas piemineklī “Skaistkalnes karsta kritenes”. Pētījuma izstrādes laikā tika pielietotas kamerālās un lauka pētījuma metodes. Tika veikta LiDAR datu analīze, lai iegūtu teritorijā esošo karsta kriteņu morfometriskos rādītājus, kas ļāva veikt tālāku datu interpretāciju. Refugee testimonies enacted : voice and solidarity in media art installations

This article examines how two media art installations in which celebrity actors enact refugee storytelling create awareness of the complexities of representation and solidarity with refugees. The celebrity actor produces familiarity, or “audibility,” for contents of the stories. Yet at the same time, the familiarity of the actor alerts the visitor to the politics of listening. The artworks therefore produce the potential for ethical listening, which requires interrogation into the privileges of the listener. Human Duties and Rights in an Intercultural Perspective

This paper reflects on the possibility of opening new ways of revaluing the role of human responsibilities and duties by establishing a relationship with rights that goes further than a simple correspondence between correlative terms. Approaching the interdependence between the language of rights and the language of duties from an intercultural perspective helps achieve an increasingly broader, but necessarily more complex, consensus. This analysis goes back to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which left duties in the background but showed the incipient presence of an intercultural purpose thanks to the work of UNESCO.
