REDU : revista de docencia universitaria

2012

Social Media as Public Sphere: A Stakeholder Perspective

2016

Purpose This paper aims to examine major stakeholders’ communication preferences in eParticipation initiatives and discuss how this affects the public sphere. Despite the potential of social media, it has proven difficult to get people actively involved in the decision-making processes. There is a need for more research on how stakeholders manage and use social media to communicate. Design/methodology/approach The study was conducted as a qualitative case study. Data sources include interviews, social media content, document analysis and field notes. Findings Communication preferences of stakeholders vary according to their salience level. Stakeholders with higher salience are less likely …

Erratum to "The histology of ovarian cancer: Worldwide distribution and implications for international survival comparisons (CONCORD-2)" [Gynecol. On…

2017

Objective. Ovarian cancers comprise several histologically distinct tumour groups with widely different prognosis. We aimed to describe the worldwide distribution of ovarian cancer histology and to understand what role this may play in international variation in survival. Methods. The CONCORD programme is the largest population-based study of global trends in cancer survival. Data on 681,759 women diagnosed during 1995–2009 with cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube, peritoneum and retroperitonum in 51 countries were included. We categorised ovarian tumours into six histological groups, and explored the worldwide distribution of histology. Results. During 2005–2009, type II epithelial tumours …

Reference density trends in the major disciplines

2018

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine whether different areas of knowledge presented different behaviour with regard to the number of references cited per journal document or if, conversely, they shared the same reference density practices. Bibliometric and bibliographic data were collected from 27,141 journals (indexed between 2001 and 2015 in the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR)) and the growth rates in reference density and number of documents and journals in each category were calculated at different levels of aggregation. Our analysis identified that (a) mean reference density values in some Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities categories were equal to or higher than t…

2009

This paper analyzes the institutional contribution of institutions to the scientific production in the area of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences through the affiliation that appears in the articles of 16 Spanish journals between 1999 and 2005. The most productive institutions and the most active authors are identified, as well as the area of origin and participating institutional sectors. Institutional plurality for each journal is also studied by means of a quotient between the number of authors and institutions. The 1786 papers analyzed engage 2280 institutions. The most productive Autonomous Communities are Andalucia (14.61% of articles), Cataluna (14.11%), and Madrid (10.97%), while …
