Selection of single-chain antibodies against the VP8* subunit of rotavirus VP4 outer capsid protein and their expression in Lactobacillus casei.
2004
ABSTRACTSingle-chain antibodies (scFv) recognizing the VP8* fraction of rotavirus outer capsid and blocking rotavirus infection in vitro were isolated by phage display. Vectors for the extracellular expression inLactobacillus caseiof one of the scFv were constructed.L. caseiwas able to secrete active scFv to the growth medium, showing the potential of probiotic bacteria to be engineered to express molecules suitable for in vivo antirotavirus therapies.
Single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies against rotavirus NSP4 enterotoxin generated by phage display.
2004
The rotavirus non-structural NSP4 protein causes membrane destabilization as well as an increase in intracellular calcium levels in eukaryotic cells and induces diarrhea in young mice, acting as a viral enterotoxin. In this study the phage display technique was used to generate a panel of single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies specific for the NSP4 protein of the human rotavirus strain Wa from a human semi-synthetic scFv library. After several rounds of panning and selection on NSP4 adsorbed to polystyrene tubes, individual scFv were isolated and characterised by fingerprinting and by sequencing the VH and VL genes. The isolated scFv antibodies specifically recognize NSP4 in enzym…

L'action culturelle mise à nu par ses métiers (1788-1988)
2009
Cultural development has been the object of a number of studies, especially in its relations with cultural policy -or policies- or even through the theoretical study and implementation of cultural action, one of its preferred functions. Within these two fields of research, neither occupational sociologists nor scientists working in the area of information and communication have ever singled out cultural actors as a professional group for the object of a study. The current research intends to explore this issue of the professionality of cultural actors, particularly in so far as concerns their contribution to cultural development. After having stated that these practitioners belong to a grou…
Espace public numérique et participation politique
2015

Investigating Potential Alignments between Modelica Standard Library and SAREF Ontologies
2021
International audience; Simulation tools based on the Modelica language provide comprehensive modelling and simulation approaches for building energy systems. However, the simulation and optimisation of such systems are data-driven processes, lacking a common understanding of information structure within the process. This paper investigates the possible semantic alignments of the Smart Appliances REFerence (SAREF) ontology and its extension for building domain, SAREF4BLDG, with the Modelica Standard Library (MSL). Using the MSL, a residential heating system has been modelled in OpenModelica, an open-source modelling and simulation environment. Then, SAREF and its extension SAREF4BLDG semant…
A population density grid for Spain
2013
This article describes a high-resolution land cover data set for Spain and its application to dasymetric population mapping (at census tract level). Eventually, this vector layer is transformed into a grid format. The work parallels the effort of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, in collaboration with Eurostat and the European Environment Agency (EEA), in building a population density grid for the whole of Europe, combining CORINE Land Cover with population data per commune. We solve many of the problems due to the low resolution of CORINE Land Cover, which are especially visible with Spanish data. An accuracy assessment is carried out from a simple aggregation of …
What to Expect and What to Focus on in SQL Query Teaching
2019
In the process of learning a new computer language, writing erroneous statements is part of the learning experience. However, some errors persist throughout the query writing process and are never corrected. Structured Query Language (SQL) consists of a number of different concepts such as expressions, joins, grouping and ordering, all of which by nature invite different possible errors in the query writing process. Furthermore, some of these errors are relatively easy for a student to fix when compared to others. Using a data set from three student cohorts with the total of 744 students, we set out to explore which types of errors are persistent, i.e., more likely to be left uncorrected by…
