The effect of aquatic exercise on physical functioning in the older adult: a systematic review with meta-analysis
2015
Background ageing and sedentary behaviour cause negative changes in the neuromuscular systems of healthy older adults resulting in a decrease in physical functioning. Exercising in water (aquatic exercise, AE) has been shown to be effective at improving physical functioning in this population; however, no systematic review with meta-analysis has been published. Purpose to investigate the effect of AE on physical functioning in healthy older adults compared to control or land-based exercise (LE) through a systematic review with meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. Data sources Medline, Embase, Cinahl, PEDro, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, published before 31st Decem…
Selection and characterization of a novel agonistic human recombinant anti-Trail-R2 minibody with anti-leukemic activity
2009
Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a promising natural anticancer therapeutic agent because through its “death receptors”, TRAIL-R1 and TRAIL-R2, it induces apoptosis in many transformed tumor cells, but not in the majority of normal cells. Hence, agonistic compounds directed against TRAIL death receptors have the potential of being excellent cancer therapeutic agents, with minimal cytotoxicity in normal tissues. Here, we report the selection and characterization of a new single-chain fragment variable (scFv) to TRAIL-R2 receptor isolated from a human phage-display library, produced as minibody (MB), and characterized for the in vitro anti-leukemic tumoricid…

A note on the rational canonical form of an endomorphism of a vector space of finite dimension
2018
[EN] In this note, we give an easy algorithm to construct the rational canonical form of a square matrix or an endomorphism h of a finite dimensional vector space which does not depend on either the structure theorem for finitely generated modules over principal ideal domains or matrices over the polynomial ring. The algorithm is based on the construction of an element whose minimum polynomial coincides with the minimum polynomial of the endomorphism and on the fact that the h-invariant subspace generated by such an element admits an h-invariant complement. It is also shown that this element can be easily obtained without the factorisation of a polynomial as a product of irreducible polynom…
Iterationsverfahren höherer Ordnung in Banach-Räumen
1969
The Newton process for operator equations in say a linear normed complete space converges under certain hypothesis about the Frechet-derivatives of the operator with at least the order two. There are different ways to improve this Newton process. For instance you obtain a process of order three if you add a correction element containing the second Frechet-derivative of the operator [1]. In the following note we will generalize this idea. In a recursive manner -- by adding higher derivatives -- we will construct iterative processes of any orderk (k > 1). A general theorem due toCollatz provides us error estimates for this processes. Last we will illustrate the processes by several examples.
Conditional measures and their applications to fuzzy sets
1991
Abstract Given a ⊥-decomposable measure with respect to a continuous t-conorm, as introduced by the author in an earlier paper (see Section 1), we can construct ⊥-conditional measures as implications. These fulfil a ‘generalized product law’ replacing the product in the classical law by any other strict t-norm ⊥ and turn out to be decomposable with respect to an operation ⊥ V depending on ⊥, ⊥ and the condition set V (Section 2). More general, conditional measures are introduced axiomatically and are shown to be ⊥-conditional measures with respect to some ⊥-decomposable measure (Section 3). ‘Bayesian-like’ models are given which are alternatives to that presented by the author in a recent p…
Efficacy and safety of allergen immunotherapy in patients with allergy to molds: A systematic review
2018
BACKGROUND Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) with mould extracts has been performed for many years but the final demonstration of its clinical efficacy is still missing, due to the small number of studies and their inconsistent results. OBJECTIVE To systematically review efficacy and safety of AIT for the treatment of respiratory allergies to moulds. DESIGN The primary outcomes were safety and reduction of symptoms (Symptom Score, SS) and medication use (Medication Score, MS) in patients treated with AIT compared to controls. The strength of the evidence was graded based on the risk of bias, consistency and magnitude of effect, according to the GRADE Working Group's guide. DATA SOURCES Medline, …
The effect of allergen immunotherapy in the onset of new sensitizations: a meta-analysis
2017
Background Although the preventive efficacy of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) in the onset of new allergen sensitizations has been asserted by many reviews, position papers, and consensus conferences, the evidence available is from only 3 studies. The objective of this work was a systematic review to evaluate the preventive efficacy of AIT in the onset of new allergen sensitizations. The end-point was the risk difference (RD) in the onset of new allergen sensitizations between patients treated with AIT and pharmacotherapy. Methods Computerized bibliographic searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library (until November 30th, 2016) were done. Random-effects and fixed-effects model meta-…
Análisis de las métricas alternativas de Archivos de Bronconeumología durante el periodo 2014-2018
2020
Introduction: Alternative metrics or altmetrics are non-traditional measurements of scientific production that reflect a publication's influence in social networks and similar channels of dissemination. The aim of this study was to analyze the media impact of ARCHIVOS DE BRONCONEUMOLOGÍA according to 2 altmetric aggregators and website visits. Methods: This was an observational study of the original articles and review and consensus articles published in ARCHIVOS DE BRONCONEUMOLOGÍA during the period 2014-2018. Data from the PlumX Metrics and Altmetric aggregators and visits to the ARCHIVOS DE BRONCONEUMOLOGÍA website were analyzed. Five comparisons were made: by specialty area, by funding …
