Defining the IT artefact in social media for eparticipation: An ensemble view

2012

Published version of a paper from the European Confernece on Information Systems. Also available from the publisher: http://aisel.aisnet.org/ecis2012/175 Social media has become a popular outlet for various eParticipation activities, such as online campaigning by political parties. However, research so far has shown that political parties often have limited success with their efforts. Much is yet unclear as to the results and possible applications of social media use. This paper contributes to clarify the underlying concepts of social media, by analysing the social media IT artefact as a socio-technical object. We propose and define an ensemble view on social media use in eParticipation, an…

Preo : pépinière de revues en open access

2022

Student Author of the Year Award 2009

2009

The ‘‘Student author of the Year Award’’ is made for an outstanding paper in which an undergraduate or graduate student played a key role in the research and publication. The recipient of this award for 2009 is Ruben Diez Fernandez for his contribution, co-authored with Jose R. Martinez Catalan 3D Analysis of an Ordovician igneous ensemble: A complex magmatic structure hidden in a polydeformed allochthonous Variscan unit Journal of Structural Geology, Volume 31, Issue 3, March 2009, Pages 222–236. The Editors have selected this paper out of many student submissions in 2009. The basis of this paper is detailed field mapping, metamorphic petrology and structural analysis. These clearly establ…

Avoiding strange attractors in efficient parametric families of iterative methods for solving nonlinear problems

2019

[EN] Searching zeros of nonlinear functions often employs iterative procedures. In this paper, we construct several families of iterative methods with memory from one without memory, that is, we have increased the order of convergence without adding new functional evaluations. The main aim of this manuscript yields in the advantage that the use of real multidimensional dynamics gives us to decide among the different classes designed and, afterwards, to select its most stable members. Moreover, we have found some elements of the family whose behavior includes strange attractors of different kinds that must be avoided in practice. In this sense, Feigenbaum diagrams have resulted an extremely …

Disseminating scientific research: a double-edged sword?

2017

Practitioners rarely have the time or propensity to read scientific research, and scholarly researchers seldom write for non-academic audiences. Nevertheless, both groups would probably agree that researchers could solve many problems faced by practitioners and that research is important to guide practice. This article acknowledges scientists’ failure to communicate successfully with practitioners, and discusses the main differences between academic and practitioner-oriented journals in management and business related disciplines. Author guidelines of the most prominent journals that appeal to both academics and practitioners are reviewed and discussed. A thorough literature review is also …
