Jurassic Ferrar rocks in Victoria Land (Antarctica) occur predominantly as basaltic or andesitic flows and sills. Both show characteristic petrographical and chemical variations, which can be related to in-situ differentiation processes. Such characteristics have been investigated at one flow (“Colonnade flow”) and one sill (“Thumb Point sill”) in the Prince Albert Mountains (Central Victoria Land) based on a statistical grain size analysis and the application of the crystal size distribution theory. This study aims at evaluating the control exerted by fracture stratigraphy and diagenetic processes on oil first migration through an outcropping, mixed carbonate-siliciclastic succession. The present work included results of sedimentological, paleontological, mineralogical, petrographic, structural, and microstructural analyses carried out on organic-rich shales exposed at the Favignana Island of Sicily, Italy. Self-continuity - the sense that one's past, present, and future are meaningfully connected - is considered a defining feature of personal identity. However, bases of self-continuity may depend on cultural beliefs about personhood. In multilevel analyses of data from 7287 adults from 55 cultural groups in 33 nations, we tested a new tripartite theoretical model of bases of self-continuity. En este trabajo se analiza la relación entre algunos factores de contingencia, el nivel de uso del cuadro de mando integral (CMI) y el beneficio percibido gracias a su aplicación. El CMI es una herramienta capaz de ofrecer a los responsables de las organizaciones una visión completa de cómo a través de la integración de medidas financieras y no financieras se ejecuta la estrategia. Il saggio critica la tesi (sostenuta dalla giurisprudenza e da parte della dottrina) secondo cui i beni oggetto di sequestro e di confisca di prevenzione acquisterebbero, già anteriormente alla confisca definitiva, la natura di beni pubblici. Esposte le contraddizioni che questa tesi produce con riferimento alle potestà di c.d. tutela esecutiva, lo scritto dimostra come la qualità pubblica dei predetti beni non possa essere sostenuta mediante l'argomento di una loro comune e necessaria destinazione a funzioni di interesse pubblico.

Abstract Invited for this month's cover picture is the group of Professor Siegfried Waldvogel. The cover picture displays the robustness achieved by the installation of fluorinated alcohols on 1,3‐benzodioxoles, protecting the obtained orthoesters against acids and bases, like the shield of a knight. The simple protocol allows access to interesting compounds, whose lipophilicity is tremendously increased by the incorporation of fluorinated groups. This makes it possible to adjust the physicochemical properties of the biologically active 1,3‐benzodioxole motif.
