Abstract The feed-in tariff(s) mechanism involves an obligation on the part of an electricity provider to purchase electricity generated by renewable energy sources in its relevant area, paying a tariff determined by public authorities and guaranteed for a specific time period. Feed-in tariff(s) have been the primary mechanism used for supporting the development of renewable energy sources in the EU and, up to date, they are being applied in 20 EU Member Countries. On 6 July 2013, the Italian experience with feed-in tariff(s) for photovoltaic systems finished. Branch ligatures and blood aspiration for post-traumatic superficial temporal artery pseudoaneurysm: surgical technique

The aim of this study is to report a new minimally invasive technique of superficial temporal artery (STA) pseudoaneurysm treatment. Several surgical options have been employed to treat STA pseudoaneurysms. To address this rare condition, the employed techniques are ligation and excision of the aneurysm, endovascular coil embolization or percutaneous ultrasound-guided thrombin injection. Between techniques no significant differences are reported in terms of outcomes. The decision to adopt a technique depends on STA pseudoaneurysm morphology and surgeon preference. In the present report, STA pseudoaneurysm afferent and efferent branches were identified by ultrasound in a 92-year-old female. …
Endoscopic treatment of intraluminal ureteral suture with holmium laser

Although reconstructive surgery is the most accepted treatment for ureteral injury, there are reports of cases where endourologic treatment led to correct resolution of the problem. We present the case of a female patient aged 72-year-old who was previously underwent sacralcolpopexy because of anterior vaginal compartment prolapse. The patient underwent surgery to remove the mesh, due to the pain she had had since it was placed. A mid-line laparotomy was performed removing completely the mesh. At 48 hours after intervention, the patient started feeling an intense pain in the left renal fossa that was not relieved with anti-inflammatories and morphic drugs. The effects of optimizing blood inflow in the pedicle on perforator flap survival: A pilot study in a rat model

Background Perforator flaps have led to a revolution in reconstructive surgery by reducing donor site morbidity. However, many surgeons have witnessed partial flap necrosis. Experimental methods to increase inflow have relied on adding a separate pedicle to the flap. The aim of our study was to experimentally determine whether increasing blood flow in the perforator pedicle itself could benefit flap survival.
