Light-scattering spectra of supercooled molecular liquids

The light scattering spectra of molecular liquids are derived within a generalized hydrodynamics. The wave vector and scattering angle dependences are given in the most general case and the change of the spectral features from liquid to solidlike is discussed without phenomenological model assumptions for (general) dielectric systems without long-ranged order. Exact microscopic expressions are derived for the frequency-dependent transport kernels, generalized thermodynamic derivatives and the background spectra.

The dynamics of supercooled toluene, studied in a GHz-THz range by incoherent neutron and depolarized light scattering, is found to be in full accord with mode coupling predictions. Around the susceptibility minimum, neutron spectra are wavenumber independent and proportional to light scattering data; the fast β-relaxation scaling law applies; amplitude and frequency diverge with power laws that extrapolate towards a crossover temperature Tc K.

A physical explanation of the intensity and polarization of diffusion skylight in the plane of the sun’s vertical is attempted by an approximation method which takes into account the effects of multiple scattering. Various model atmospheres are considered. Light scattering caused by Tiffen ProMist photographic filters of various grades at different laser radiation 640 nm, 532 nm and 405 nm was objectively studied and compared. The lack of removal of speckles from the scene of laser radiation scattering did not allow an accurate assessment of the effect of scattering on the decrease in image contrast. The micellization of ionic amphiphilic diblock copolymers, polyisobutylene-block-poly(methacrylic acid) (PIB-b-PMAA), with a constant degree of polymerization of the non-ionic block ðDPn ¼ 20Þ and various degrees of polymerization of the polyelectrolyte block ðDPn ¼ 100 – 425Þ was examined in aqueous media by means of fluorescence spectroscopy using pyrene as a polarity probe. A New Hyaluronic Acid Derivative Obtained from Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization as a siRNA Vector for CD44 Receptor Tumor Targeting

Two derivatives of hyaluronic acid (HA) have been synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), starting from an ethylenediamino HA derivative (HA-EDA) and by using diethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) as a monomer for polymerization. Both samples, indicated as HA-EDA-pDEAEMA a and b, are able to condense siRNA, as determined by gel retardation assay and resulting complexes show a size and a zeta potential value dependent on polymerization number, as determined by dynamic light scattering measurements. In vitro studies performed on HCT 116 cell line, that over express CD44 receptor, demonstrate a receptor mediated uptake of complexes, regardless of their surface charge.
