The effect of macromolecular architecture of ethylene copolymers with multi-alkenylsilsesquioxane on morphological, rheological and dynamic mechanica…

2021

Abstract The influence of the degree and the way of incorporation of multi-alkenylsilsesquioxane into the polymer chain on morphological, rheological and dynamic mechanical parameters were determined. It was found that POSS incorporated into the polymer chain was located outside the crystalline structure of lamella in amorphous phase. The incorporation of POSS-6-2 as a pendant group resulted in significant increase of separation of macromolecules. The key factor in rheological and dynamic mechanical behavior of copolymers turned out to be the way of POSS incorporation into the polymer chain. The incorporation of POSS into the polymer chain as a pendant group resulted in decreased relaxation…

Calculation of low bandgap homopolymers: Comparison of TD-DFT methods with experimental oligomer series

2016

Made available in DSpace on 2018-12-11T17:26:45Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2016-02-01 The performance of different DFT functionals (B3LYP, BHLYP, CAM-B3LYP, M06HF) on the prediction of vertical transition energies Evert of low bandgap homopolymers is tested against the experimentally available oligomer series (thienopyrazines and thienothiophenes). This allows for a detailed and accurate comparison on the consistency of DFT methods for chainlength evolution and polymer limit prediction, and for an understanding of geometry and time-dependent contributions to Evert by combinatorial analysis. Together with former studies on wide/medium bandgap polymers and low bandgap c…

Amino acid sequence and homology modeling of obtustatin, a novel non-RGD-containing short disintegrin isolated from the venom of Vipera lebetina obtu…

2003

Disintegrins represent a group of cysteine-rich peptides occurring in Crotalidae and Viperidae snake venoms, and are potent antagonists of several integrin receptors. A novel disintegrin, obtustatin, was isolated from the venom of the Vipera lebetina obtusa viper, and represents the first potent and selective inhibitor of the binding of integrin alpha(1)beta(1) to collagen IV. The primary structure of obtustatin contains 41 amino acids and is the shortest disintegrin described to date. Obtustatin shares the pattern of cysteines of other short disintegrins. However, in contrast to known short disintegrins, the integrin-binding loop of obtustatin is two residues shorter and does not express t…

Two pentadehydropeptides with different configurations of the ΔPhe residues

2009

Comparison of the crystal structures of two pentadehydropeptides containing DeltaPhe residues, namely (Z,Z)-N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycine (or Boc(0)-Gly(1)-Delta(Z)Phe(2)-Gly(3)-Delta(Z)Phe(4)-Gly(5)-OH) methanol solvate, C(29)H(33)N(5)O(8) x CH(4)O, (I), and (E,E)-N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycine (or Boc(0)-Gly(1)-Delta(E)Phe(2)-Gly(3)-Delta(E)Phe(4)-Gly(5)-OH), C(29)H(33)N(5)O(8), (II), indicates that the Delta(Z)Phe residue is a more effective inducer of folded structures than the Delta(E)Phe residue. The values of the torsion angles phi and psi show the presence of two …

Purification of ATP synthase from beef heart mitochondria (FoF1) and co-reconstitution with monomeric bacteriorhodopsin into liposomes capable of lig…

1993

ATP synthase was isolated from beef heart mitochondria by extraction with N,N-bis-(3-D-gluconamidopropyl)deoxycholamide or by traditional cholate extraction. The enzyme was purified subsequently by ion-exchange and gel-permeation chromatographies in the presence of glycerol and the protease inhibitor diisopropylfluorophosphate. The ATP synthase consisted of 12–14 subunits and contained three tightly bound nucleotides. The co-reconstitution of crude or purified ATP synthase with monomeric bacteriorhodopsin by the method of detergent incubation of liposomes yielded proteoliposomes capable of light-driven ATP synthesis, as detected with a luciferase system for at least 30 min. The reaction was…

Facile access to foldable redox-active flavin-peptide conjugates

2021

A convenient approach for the synthesis of foldable redox-active flavin peptide conjugates was established. A model β-hairpin oligopeptide motif was utilized to demonstrate that azidolysine side-chains are readily functionalised with an alkyne-bearing flavine derivative. The folding equilibrium of the peptide backbone as well as the redox behaviour of the flavin moieties remains intact after the conjugation.

Influence of the position of two dehydro-amino acids residues in the oligopeptide sequence on the binding ability towards Cu(II) ions

2005

Abstract Studies on the binding ability of bis-dehydro-hexa- and pentapeptides have shown that the hexapeptides bind Cu+2 with similar efficacy as pentapeptides. The increase of distance between two dehydro-amino acid residues in the peptide backbone has no impact on the efficacy in metal ion binding. The type of isomeration [(Z) or (E)] has an influence on the coordination of the metal ion only to the first amide nitrogen.

Saccharide modified silica particles by enzymatic grafting

1997

The surface of silica particles has been chemically modified with oligo- or poly-(α,1→4)-D-glucopyranose (amylose) chains of various length by covalently attaching maltoheptaose derivatives to the solid support and enzymatic polymerization of glucose-1-phosphate with a potato phosphorylase as catalyst. The characterization of the products by solid-state NMR spectroscopy showed an interesting dependence of the linewidth with the grafting density of the glucan chains. The modified silica particles showed chiral discrimination in liquid chromatography.

Automated Large-Scale Synthesis of Supramolecular Oligo(p-benzamide) Block Copolymers

2007

A fully automated large-scale synthesis procedure has been developed that allows the preparation of supramolecular rod−coil copolymers on a 100 g scale. The new reaction cycle allows the stepwise growth of oligo(p-benzamide)s onto the chain end of amine-terminated polymers. Amine-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG, Mn = 5000 g mol-1) and poly(styrene) (PS, Mn = 2950 g mol-1) were prepared, and an octa(p-benzamide) oligomer block was grown from the chain end in an automated computer-controlled reaction cycle. Plotting the apparent molecular weight of the PEG copolymer against the number of reaction cycles revealed a linear relationship, which emphasized the high level of control this meth…
