Geochemical characteristics of Cretaceous carbonatites from Angola

Abstract The Early Cretaceous (138–130 Ma) carbonatites and associated alkaline rocks of Angola belong to the Parana-Angola-Etendeka Province and occur as ring complexes and other central-type intrusions along northeast trending tectonic lineaments, parallel to the trend of coeval Namibian alkaline complexes. Most of the Angolan carbonatite-alkaline bodies are located along the apical part of the Mocamedes Arch, a structure representing the African counterpart of the Ponta Grossa Arch in southern Brazil, where several alkaline-carbonatite complexes were also emplaced in the Early Cretaceous. Se presenta un modelo bidimensional de gravedad para determinar la estructura en profundidad del sistema de fallas lateral-izquierda de Motagua-Polochic, que son parte del límite de las placas América del Norte y del Caribe. Estos elementos tectónicos, sismicamente activos, atraviesan oeste-este la región de Guatemala y se sobreponen a una línea de sutura donde afloran cuerpos ophiolíticos. OBIETTIVO. Giovani pazienti che presentano dolore al ginocchio hanno spesso malallineamento femoro-rotuleo o anomalie da conflitto. Vi è una relativa scarsità di letteratura sull'incidenza e il significato dell'edema legato al conflitto del versante supero-laterale del corpo adiposo di Hoffa in questi casi. Il nostro studio è stato disegnato per valutare sistematicamente la correlazione dell'edema della porzione supero-laterale del corpo adiposo di Hoffa con diversi parametri anatomici della morfologia trocleare e dell'allineamento della rotula. Abstract The submerged area located between the Sardinia Channel and the western Sicily offshore has been investigated based on deep crustal and conventional seismic lines with the aim of illustrating the relationships between the crust and its overlying crystalline and sedimentary thrust wedge. Analyses of seismic attributes and reflector pattern, supported by dredge hauls, also provided data in areas where stratigraphic and lithologic control is absent. Previous crustal models of the High Atlas suppose the existence of a mid-crustal detachment where all the surface thrusts merged and below which the lower crust was continuous. However, both seismic refraction data and gravity modeling detected a jump in crustal thickness between the High Atlas and the northern plains. Here we show that this rapid and vertical jump in the depth of Moho discontinuity suggests that a thrust fault may penetrate the lower crust and offset the Moho (deep-rooted “thick skinned” model).
