Abstract We consider the Laplace equation in a domain of R n , n ≥ 3 , with a small inclusion of size ϵ . On the boundary of the inclusion we define a nonlinear nonautonomous transmission condition. For ϵ small enough one can prove that the problem has solutions. In this paper, we study the local uniqueness of such solutions.
Fractional-order nonlinear hereditariness of tendons and ligaments of the human knee

In this paper the authors introduce a nonlinear model of fractional-order hereditariness used to capture experimental data obtained on human tendons of the knee. Creep and relaxation data on fibrous tissues have been obtained and fitted with logarithmic relations that correspond to power-laws with nonlinear dependence of the coefficients. The use of a proper nonlinear transform allows one to use Boltzmann superposition in the transformed variables yielding a fractional-order model for the nonlinear material hereditariness. Kapranov considered a two-dimensional dynamical model of phase locked-loop (PLL) and investigated its qualitative behavior. Given a large number of homogeneous players that are distributed across three possible states, we consider the problem in which these players have to control their transition rates, following some optimality criteria. Neural Petri Control: an application on a mobile robot

In the present work, an innovative nonlinear controller of nonholonomic mechanical systems, characterized by a dynamic not well known model a priori, using a new neural model obtained by the combination of a Petri net with a neural network, is proposed. The performances of the control algorithm are evaluated for tasks of tracking of time trajectories. The study of the stability of the total system to closed loop is based on the Lyapunov theory. Simulation experiments, made taking into consideration a nonholonomic mobile robot, to two wheels, allowed to verify the theoretical results.
Observer-based H∞ control on stochastic nonlinear systems with time-delay and actuator nonlinearity

Abstract In this paper, an observer-based H ∞ controller is designed for a class of extended Markov jump systems subject to time-delay and actuator saturation nonlinearity. Gradient linearization procedure is employed to describe such nonlinear systems by several linear Markov jump systems. Next, a mode-dependent Lyapunov function is constructed for these linear systems, and a sufficient condition is derived to make them stochastically stable, and then, a continuous gain-scheduled approach is applied to design a continuous nonlinear observer-based controller on the entire extended nonlinear jump system. A simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of developed techniques.
Vibration control of base-isolated structures using mixed H2/H∞ output-feedback control

A mixed H2/ H∞ output-feedback control design methodology for vibration reduction of base-isolated building structures modelled in the form of second-order linear systems is presented. Sufficient conditions for the design of a desired control are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A controller that guarantees asymptotic stability and a mixed H2/ H∞ performance for the closed-loop system of the structure is developed, based on a Lyapunov function. The performance of the controller is evaluated by means of simulations in MATLAB/Simulink.
