ANÁLISIS DEL COMPORTAMIENTO DE QUEJA DEL CONSUMIDOR: UNA INVESTIGACIÓN EXPLORATORIA EN EL CONTEXTO DE LOS RESTAURANTES /

2008

Comparative evaluation of some interactive reference point-based methods for multi-objective optimisation

1999

Many real-world optimisation applications include several conflicting objectives of possibly nondifferentiable character. However, the lack of computationally efficient, interactive methods for nondifferentiable multi-objective optimisation problems is apparent. To satisfy this demand, a method called NIMBUS has been developed. Two versions of the basic method are presented and compared both theoretically and computationally. In order to give variety to the comparison, a related approach, called reference direction method is included. Theoretically, the methods differ in handling the information requested from the user. Numerical experiments indicate differences in computational efficiency …

A novel application of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to GEM data

2016

Abstract This study constitutes a novel application of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) data. This study seeks to demonstrate that fsQCA enriches previous conclusions from linear regression analyses that state that a relationship exists between the GEM's Total Entrepreneurial Activity rate (TEA) and variables representing entrepreneurial attitudes and social values of adult populations toward entrepreneurship. FsQCA allows researchers to estimate which of these attitudes and social values are necessary, sufficient, or both for full membership in the set of most entrepreneurial active countries within the set of GEM innovation-driven countri…

Improving demand forecasting accuracy using nonlinear programming software

2006

We address the problem of forecasting real time series with a proportion of zero values and a great variability among the nonzero values. In order to calculate forecasts for a time series, the model coefficients must be estimated. The appropriate choice of values for the smoothing parameters in exponential smoothing methods relies on the minimization of the fitting errors of historical data. We adapt the generalized Holt–Winters formulation so that it can consider the starting values of the local components of level, trend and seasonality as decision variables of the nonlinear programming problem associated with this forecasting procedure. A spreadsheet model is used to solve the problems o…

A new tool to classifying new technology-based firm prospects and expectations

1999

Abstract This is an exploratory insight into the profile and prospects of growth and success attached to one category of firms, the so-called New Technology-Based Firms (NTBFs). Analysis of our empirically based data from 30 NTBFs leads us to the Market-Technology-Entrepreneurial (M-T-E) Matrix, whose eight three-dimensional quadrants serve to classify high-tech new ventures by performance. A factorial analysis coupled with a discriminate analysis are the statistical tools employed in obtaining the M-T-E Matrix and ascribing predictive capacity to it.

Stationary and non-stationary stochastic response of linear fractional viscoelastic systems

2012

Abstract A method is presented to compute the stochastic response of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structural systems with fractional derivative damping, subjected to stationary and non-stationary inputs. Based on a few manipulations involving an appropriate change of variable and a discretization of the fractional derivative operator, the equation of motion is reverted to a set of coupled linear equations involving additional degrees of freedom, the number of which depends on the discretization of the fractional derivative operator. As a result of the proposed variable transformation and discretization, the stochastic analysis becomes very straightforward and simple since, based on stand…

A new design of H ∞ filtering for continuous-time Markovian jump systems with time-varying delay and partially accessible mode information

2013

In this paper, the delay-dependent H"~ filtering problem for a class of continuous-time Markovian jump linear systems with time-varying delay and partially accessible mode information is investigated by an indirect approach. The generality lies in that the systems under consideration are subject to a Markov stochastic process with exactly known and partially unknown transition rates. By utilizing the model transformation idea, an input-output approach is employed to transform the time-delayed filtering error system into a feedback interconnection formulation. Invoking the results from the scaled small gain theorem, an improved version of bounded real lemma is obtained based on a Markovian L…

MRF Model-Based Approach for Image Segmentation Using a Chaotic MultiAgent System

2006

In this paper, we propose a new Chaotic MultiAgent System (CMAS) for image segmentation. This CMAS is a distributed system composed of a set of segmentation agents connected to a coordinator agent. Each segmentation agent performs Iterated Conditional Modes (ICM) starting from its own initial image created initially from the observed one by using a chaotic mapping. However, the coordinator agent receives and diversifies these images using a crossover and a chaotic mutation. A chaotic system is successfully used in order to benefit from the special chaotic characteristic features such as ergodic property, stochastic aspect and dependence on initialization. The efficiency of our approach is s…

Markovian approximation of linear systems with fractional viscoelastic term

2017

It is well known that the response of a linear system enforced by a Gaussian white noise is Markovian. The order of Markovianity is n-1 being n the maximum order of the derivative of the equation ruling the evolution of the system. However when a fractional operator appears, the order of Markovianity of the system becomes infinite. Then the main aim developed in the proposed paper, consists of rewriting the system with fractional term of order r with an "equivalent" one, in which the fractional operator is substituted by two classical differential terms with integer order of derivative int(r) and int(r + 1) (for a real r). In this way the fractional differential equation reverts into a clas…

V1 non-linear properties emerge from local-to-global non-linear ICA

2006

It has been argued that the aim of non-linearities in different visual and auditory mechanisms may be to remove the relations between the coefficients of the signal after global linear ICA-like stages. Specifically, in Schwartz and Simoncelli (2001), it was shown that masking effects are reproduced by fitting the parameters of a particular non-linearity in order to remove the dependencies between the energy of wavelet coefficients. In this work, we present a different result that supports the same efficient encoding hypothesis. However, this result is more general because, instead of assuming any specific functional form for the non-linearity, we show that by using an unconstrained approach…
