A novel identification method for generalized T-S fuzzy systems

2012

Published version of an article from the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/893807 In order to approximate any nonlinear system, not just affine nonlinear systems, generalized T-S fuzzy systems, where the control variables and the state variables, are all premise variables are introduced in the paper. Firstly, fuzzy spaces and rules were determined by using ant colony algorithm. Secondly, the state-space model parameters are identified by using genetic algorithm. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm

Adaptive H ∞ synchronization of master-slave systems with mixed time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbations: An LMI approach

2011

Published version of an article in the journal: International Journal of Automation and Computing. Also available from the publisher on SpringerLink: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11633-011-0595-z This paper proposes an adaptive synchronization problem for the master and slave structure of linear systems with nonlinear perturbations and mixed time-varying delays comprising different discrete and distributed time delays. Using an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some delay-dependent sufficient conditions and an adaptation law including the master-slave parameters are established for designing a delayed synchronization law in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). The time-varying…

Robust Observer Design for Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Systems with Mixed Neutral and Discrete Delays and Unknown Inputs

2012

Published version of an article from the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/635709 A robust observer design is proposed for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy neutral models with unknown inputs. The model consists of a mixed neutral and discrete delay, and the disturbances are imposed on both state and output signals. Delay-dependent sufficient conditions for the design of an unknown input T-S observer with time delays are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Some relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the given results.

Multi-class pairwise linear dimensionality reduction using heteroscedastic schemes

2010

Accepted version of an article published in the journal: Pattern Recognition. Published version on Sciverse: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.patcog.2010.01.018 Linear dimensionality reduction (LDR) techniques have been increasingly important in pattern recognition (PR) due to the fact that they permit a relatively simple mapping of the problem onto a lower-dimensional subspace, leading to simple and computationally efficient classification strategies. Although the field has been well developed for the two-class problem, the corresponding issues encountered when dealing with multiple classes are far from trivial. In this paper, we argue that, as opposed to the traditional LDR multi-class schemes…

FATIGUE LIFE ANALYSIS OF RAIL-WELDS USING LINEAR ELASTIC FRACTURE MECHANICS

2019

The initiation and growth of fatigue cracking is mainly due to high stress concentration, heterogeneity and poor quality of weld. The detection and rectification of such weld defects are major concerns of rail network managers to reduce potential risk of rail breaks and derailments. To estimate the fatigue life of welded joints and to analyze the progress of fatigue cracks, a fracture mechanics-based analysis and fatigue models were developed using Finite Element Analysis. The initial flaw is obtained from a sample weld using ultrasonic flaw detecting machine test. Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM) approach based on the Paris law was applied to determine critical crack size and the n…

Adaptive Tracking Control of Nonlinear Time-Varying Systems with Unknown Control Coefficients and Unknown Time-Varying Parameters

2019

This paper investigates the tracking control of a class of strict-feedback uncertain nonlinear systems in the presence of unknown signs of control coefficients and unknown time-varying parameters as well as unknown disturbances. A robust adaptive controller and a new decoupled backstepping approach to stability analysis are developed by constructing a new compensation scheme. By introducing a Nussbaum function and a new type of hyperbolic tangent function, the effects of unknown time-varying parameters and unknown control coefficients are effectively compensated. By using the decoupled backstepping technique, it is proved that under the proposed control, all closed-loop states are uniform u…

Spin-resolved low-energy and hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of off-stoichiometric Co2MnSi Heusler thin films exhibiting a record TMR

2015

Half-metallic Co2MnSi-based Heusler compounds have attracted attention because they yield very high tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR) ratios. Record TMR ratios of 1995% (at 4.2 K) are obtained from off-stoichiometric Co2MnSi-based magnetic tunnel junctions. This work reports on a combination of band structure calculations and spin-resolved and photon-polarisation-dependent photoelectron spectroscopy for off-stoichiometric Heusler thin films with the composition Co2Mn1.30Si0.84. Co and Mn are probed by magnetic dichroism in angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy at the 2p core level. In contrast to the delocalised Co 3d states, a pronounced localisation of the Mn 3d states is deduced fro…

Future Intentions of Fitness Center Customers: Effect of Emotions, Perceived Well-Being and Management Variables

2020

One of the main objectives of fitness center managers is to obtain high levels of loyalty from the customers of these fitness centers. Within the existing literature on fitness center management, previous research has analyzed the importance of the management variables themselves to determine the behavioral intentions of their customers, ignoring other psychological and sociodemographic aspects and focusing on linear relationship models. Therefore, this study, which aims to analyze the impact of different management variables along with psychological (emotions and subjective well-being) and demographic variables (age and sex) on the satisfaction, perceived value (PV) and future intentions (…
