The Prince is counted among those political works which gave rise to modern political science. Linguists have shown how the writing technique, that makes The Prince a unique work, is one of the main instruments used by Machiavelli to persuade his addressee to adopt the political tactics he was recommending. On the basis of their Italian studies on The Prince, the paper analyses how Machiavelli’s style was transferred from Italian into English in the most recent and authoritative English translations by Harvey C. In Japan, CLIL instruction falls under a soft-CLIL approach, content serving as secondary to language instruction. Furthermore, assessment in classrooms in Japan is oftentimes limited to assessing the product summatively. In the paper, we argue for the value of focusing on content in CLIL activities and assessing the process with the goal to promote learning. This paper explores connections between identity and language use in lingua franca contexts by investigating identity construction among Finnish users of English as revealed in interviews conducted both before and after a period spent in Germany. The focus is on the users' own stories of their language use and learning, and on the discursive construction of identities. The study draws on poststructuralist theories of identity construction, combining them with research that focuses on language learners' identity construction or on identity issues in contexts with English as a lingua franca. Tanto los no-personajes y los no-lugares macedonianos, como los multiformes, cambiantes e indefinidos seres que pueblan las Historias de Cortázar se presentan como burlas metafísicas. El recorrido de deconstrucción y simulación que Macedonio empieza en sus textos parece alcanzar en la obra de Cortázar su ápice: de una escritura anti mimética y de un sistema autorreferencial se pasa a la posibilidad de ver la otra realidad que se esconde más allá de nuestra visión del mundo, el misterio que hace vacilar certezas seculares, el origen primero de la interminable búsqueda humana de la verdad.

L’espressione russa byt’ čelovekom, che può essere tradotta dal russo come “essere uomo” o come “essere una persona umana”, è ampiamente usata nella letteratura, nella pubblicistica e nelle espressioni colloquiali. Il termine čelovek è contraddistinto da un’evidente polisemia, pertanto nei dizionari bilingue viene tradotto con diversi termini italiani: essere umano, persona, persona umana, uomo. Similmente, traducendo il termine uomo dall’italiano al russo siamo di fronte, oltre alla parola čelovek, anche ai termini lico (persona) e mužčina (individuo di sesso maschile).
