Sidosryhmien näkökulmia paikkabrändin kehittämiseen
2017
Aineiston analyysi…
Elämyspalveluiden tarinallistaminen
2013
Työn ensimmäinen osa sisältää lyhyet taustoitukset palveluiden tarinallistamisen kannalta keskeisistä teorioista ja ilmiöistä. Tarinayhteiskunta luvussa esittelen tarinallistamisen näkökulmasta tärkeiksi katsomiani seikkoja elämyssuunnitteluun, palvelumuotoiluun ja tarinamarkkinoinnin kentältä. Toinen luku syventyy tarinadramatugiaan eli käsikirjoittamiseen ja dramaturgiseen rakenteeseen. Kolmannessa luvussa keskityn elämyspalveluiden tarinallistamiseen ja niihin menetelmiin, joita olen omassa työssäni tarinallistajana kehittänyt. Tässä työni viimeisessä osiossa pyrin hakemaan vastauksia siihen, miten palveluiden tarinallistamista käytännössä voisi toteuttaa. Tarkastelen tekijyyttä oman tek…
Is no One Left Behind? Inclusive Citizenship in Practices of Self-help Groups in Rural Tanzania
2023
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are based on the Agenda 2030 according to which ‘no one is left behind’, highlighting the need for inclusive citizenship at all levels. This article examines self-help groups in rural Tanzania as potential arenas for inclusive citizenship, which is defined as bottom-up practices of membership, participation, and livelihood enhancement. However, inclusive citizenship is also characterised by exclusions. Therefore, while acknowledging the important contribution of self-help groups for development, this article scrutinises the question of patterns of exclusion, first, in practices of self-help groups, and second, in the relationships bet…
How educators commit to enhancing children’s participation in early childhood education pedagogical plans
2022
Background: This is a descriptive study of children’s participation plans in early childhood education (ECE) settings in Finland. The study adopted a multidimensional approach to find out how practices of children’s participation were conceived in pedagogical plans made by ECE staff, representing a focus that is rare in the existing body of research. Aim: Aim of the study was to investigate educators’ commitments to enhancing children’s participation in pedagogical practices in their ECE settings. Setting: Ten centre-based plans for children’s participation composed by ECE staff at ECE centres were selected for the document data in this study. Methods: This study employs the categorisation …

Protocol for a participatory survey to investigate the long-term effectiveness of adult psychiatric services (PSILEAPS) : a prospective exploratory c…
2022
Mental health research and practice is currently moving beyond a focus on group-level symptom reduction models. Hence, research and treatment increasingly emphasize the real-life individual needs of service users and their social networks. One example is the Open Dialogue approach (OD), which has demonstrated promising outcomes in the Finnish Western Lapland (WL) catchment area. Nevertheless, it is unclear how OD-based services have so far been maintained in WL. It is also unclear how the experiences of multi-disciplinary care teams, service users and their social network members differ, with regard to differing approaches to mental health treatment. More generally, there is a global need f…
Capability to be educated : inspiring and inclusive pedagogical arrangements from Finnish schools
2018
The idea and concept of inclusive education have been debated, and different interpretations of what inclusion means and to whom it concerns have been presented. In this paper, we bring together notions of inclusive quality education, pedagogy, learning and teachers, and illustrate how the principle(s) of inclusion(s) has been enacted and translated into classroom practices in Finnish context. Drawing from Finnish teachers’ narratives, we highlight successful, small-scale and creative pedagogical arrangements and teachers’ sensitivity to recognize and commit to responding to the needs of diverse learners. Our argumentation is rooted in the capabilities approach. We carry out an evaluative e…
Immersive gaming as journalism
2021
This chapter discusses immersion and how it may be applied to journalism. It begins by unraveling the concept of immersion itself as a reminder that it is not only connected to virtual reality or augmented reality technologies, but rather that it is a multifaceted concept that may be understood in many ways. The chapter turns specifically to the theorizing done in the context of digital games research, where immersion and some related concepts have been explored in detail over the last decades. This theorizing helps us see how immersion can be understood and in what way the concept may be problematic. The chapter maps out some of the historical precedents for immersion, discusses alternativ…
“This Is the Future of Advertising!” Or Is It? New Insights into the Justifiability of Deceptive Crowdwork in Cyberspace
2022
Unlike classical forms of deception where the deceiver deceives their victims directly, the crowdsourcing of cyber deception provides a powerful and cost-effective mechanism for deceivers to create and spread falsehood from the shadows. But for a mass deception campaign to be effective, the crowdworkers must rationalize (and willingly accept) their role in the deceptive act. What, then, could justify participation in a mass-deception campaign? To answer this question, we adopt the qualitative vignette approach and utilize neutralization theory as our guiding lens. Our results point to several neutralization techniques that crowdworkers could invoke to convincingly rationalize involvement in…
Osallistumisen lupaus ja petos hyvinvointipalveluissa
2017
Artikkelissa analysoidaan osallistumisparadigmaa hyvinvointipalveluissa.
