On Demand One-Pot Mild Preparation of Layered Double Hydroxides and Their Hybrid Forms: Advances through the Epoxide Route.

2019

Epoxide ring opening driven alkalinization process was explored with the aim of preparing layered double hydroxide (LDH) phases on demand, at room temperature. Employing iodide as nucleophilic agent, the precipitation reaction can be driven under much lower halide concentrations. This scenario favors the selective intercalation of concomitant bulky oxo anions as nitrate or perchlorate in the LDH products, allowing for the one-pot synthesis of an LDH able to delaminate in formamide. Even large dicarboxylic acids, - O2 C-(CH2 )n -CO2 - , with n up to 8, can be quantitively intercalated within the growing LDH phase, providing a versatile one-pot route for hybrid LDHs as well. Under the mild co…

Spin Transition of 1D, 2D and 3D Iron(II) Complex Polymers The Tug-of-War between Elastic Interaction and a Shock-Absorber Effect

2003

The structures of linear chain Fe(II) spin-crossover compounds of α,β- and α,ω-bis (tetrazol-1-yl)alkane type ligands are described in relation to their magnetic properties. The first threefold interlocked 3-D catenane Fe(II) spin-transition system, [μ-tris(1,4-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)butane-N1,N1′) iron(II)] bis(perchlorate), will be discussed. An analysis is made among the structures and the cooperativity of the spin-crossover behaviour of polynuclear Fe(II) spin-transition materials.

Alkyl- and aryl-substituted corroles. 4. Solvent effects on the electrochemical and spectral properties of cobalt corroles.

2003

Solvent effects on the electrochemistry and spectroscopic properties of alkyl- and aryl-substituted corroles in nonaqueous media are reported. The oxidation and reduction of six compounds containing zero to seven phenyl or substituted phenyl groups on the macrocycle were studied in four different nonaqueous solvents (CH(2)Cl(2), PhCN, THF, and pyridine) containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate. Dimers were formed upon oxidation of all corroles in CH(2)Cl(2), but this was not the case in the other three solvents, where either monomers or dimers were formed upon oxidation depending upon the solvent Gutmann donor number and the number or location of aryl substituents on the macrocycl…

In vitro plant regeneration of caper (Capparis spinosa L.) from floral explants and genetic stability of regenerants

2011

A new technique to regenerate caper plants (Capparis spinosa L. subsp. rupestris) starting from flower explant is reported. In vitro plant regeneration was attempted using stigma, anthers and unfertilized ovules of unopened flowers collected in the field. Plant regeneration was achieved from unfertilized ovules on MS medium supplemented with 88 mM sucrose and 13 lM 6-benzyladenine (BA). New individuals obtained from unfertilized ovules were used as source material for micropropagation and multiple shoots were obtained on MS medium sup- plemented with the adeninic cytokinin BA and the auxin indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). Explants obtained in micro- propagation step were used for rooting step u…

Complexation of planar, organic, five-membered cations with crown ethers

2000

Complexation of six aromatic, nitrogen-containing cations with various crown ethers has been studied using 1H NMR, mass spectrometric and crystallographic methods. Hydrogen bonding appears to be the most important interaction in complexation, but minor effects such as π-stacking or cation–π interactions have also been observed. The stability constants of five different imidazolium perchlorate ·crown ether complexes and five other similar cation·DB18C6 complexes were determined by 1H NMR titration in acetonitrile solution. The stability of these complexes in solution and in the gas phase is discussed. The crystal structures of seven complexes were determined in order to study complexation in…

Chloramphenicol effects on adventitious root production by radish hypocotyls

1990

Abstract The excision of the root accelerates greatly the formation of adventitious roots in the hypocotyl of etiolated radish seedlings, but if the seedlings develop in CAP 1×10−4M, no adventitious root are induced after cutting. IAA either alone or associated with CAP, significantly increases the number of primordia in normal hypocotyls if given at the moment of cutting, while it has not stimulatory effect on the hypocotyls of seedlings grown in CAP. IAA has significant effect on both elongation and tickening of hypocotyl segments prepared from seedlings grown in CAP, and this could indicate a specific action of the inhibitor either on a particular process or on particular cells. The endo…

Homochiral self-assembly of biocoordination polymers: anion-triggered helicity and absolute configuration inversion

2015

The different natures of the weakly coordinating anions – triflate or perchlorate – in the Cu2+-mediated self-assembly of cytidine monophosphate nucleotide play a fundamental role in the homochiral resolution process, yielding one-dimensional copper(II) coordination polymers of opposite helicity that can be easily inverted, in a reversible way, by changing the nature of the anion as revealed by circular dichroism experiments both in solution and in the solid state.

From extraction of valuable compounds to health promoting benefits of olive leaves through bioaccessibility, bioavailability and impact on gut microb…

2019

Abstract Background The beneficial effects of olive leaves are known from ancient times. In this regard, both the olive leaves and the different preparations obtained from them (e.g. infusions, extracts) have been traditionally used for the treatment of various diseases or to alleviate the symptoms associated with different pathologies. In addition, the use of olive leaves extracts as nutraceuticals along today's continuous usage in cosmetics and medicine is common. Scope and approach Most of the health-related benefits of olive leaves have been associated to their high content in antioxidant bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, carotenoids, etc., being oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol som…
