Introduction The purpose of this study was to provide a translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation of the Polish language version of the pain sensitivity questionnaire (PSQ). The process followed widely accepted guidelines. Methods The translated questionnaire underwent thorough psychometric testing. In total, the data of 144 subjects (mean age 52.53±13 years), who underwent evaluation for lower back pain, were included. AIM OF THE STUDY The surgical success rate and clinical outcome after surgery for primary hyperparathyroidism were evaluated in a prospective long-term follow-up study. PATIENTS AND METHODS 407 patients, 396 with the first manifestation, 6 with recurrent and 5 with persistent disease underwent operation from August 1, 1987 to August 15, 1999. All patients were prospectively investigated in a long-term follow-up study and underwent reexaminations at regular surveillance intervals. The postoperative course is known in 93.9% of all patients. Cranial nerve function in workers exposed to polychlorinated dioxins and furans

OBJECTIVE: To look for possible effects of polychlorinated dioxins and furans (PCDD/F) on cranial nerve function. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Clinical and neurophysiological examinations [visual and brainstem auditory evoked potentials (VEP and BAEP), blink reflex] in 121 PCDD/F exposed workers of one pesticide producing plant. RESULTS: BAEP abnormalities were more frequent in workers with chloracne (6 of 33 workers, 18.2%) than in those without chloracne (7 of 84, 8.3%), but this was not statistically significant (chi2: 2.33).
