Long-lasting rewarding effects of morphine induced by drug primings.

To evaluate the persistence of the rewarding effects of morphine, the acquisition, maintenance, extinction and reinstatement of a conditioned place preference (CPP) was assessed in OF1 mice. In Experiment 1, the persistence of morphine-induced CPP was evaluated weekly. Mice showed CPP after four sessions of conditioning with 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg of morphine, which lasted 0, 1, 2 and 4 weeks, respectively. In Experiment 2, after four sessions of conditioning with 40 mg/kg of morphine, the effects of four schedules of extinction differing in the time interval (2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks) between sessions were evaluated. Impact of Different Types of Fathers on Family Climate in Young Adulthood: A Multi-perspective Longitudinal Study on 14 to 27 Year Olds and their Fathers In a 13 year longitudinal study, the influence of three types of fathers on the family climate was analyzed. In a sample of 213 subjects, their 169 fathers and their 210 mothers, the family environment ( Family Environment Scales) was examined when the subjects were young adults (M = 26.89, SD = 1.32). The first example of a Y-shaped ferrocene quinoxaline derivative with a surprisingly high and stable second harmonic generation (SHG) response in composite polymeric films is reported. Vemurafenib has been approved since 2011 in the United States for the treatment of advanced BRAF V600–mutated melanoma as first-line therapy. Although it significantly prolongs overall and progression-free survival, most patients relapse within 6 to 8 months owing to acquisition of drug resistance. New findings suggest that discontinuous dose administration of vemurafenib might prolong response to vemurafenib, but it is unclear whether modified cell signalling or other mechanisms, such as immune-mediated effects, are responsible for this effect.

A ventricular silicone catheter impregnated with a combination of rifampin and a quinolone was developed in order to prevent ventricular shunt related infections. Precopulatory mate guarding (PCMG) is generally assumed to be costly for both sexes. However, males may gain by displaying long-lasting mate guarding under strong male–male competition. Surprisingly, the potential for females to benefit from being held by males has been largely overlooked in previous studies. In Gammarus pulex , an amphipod crustacean, PCMG lasts several weeks, yet females are described as bearing only cost from such male mating strategy.
