Chapter 14: HPV vaccine introduction in industrialized countries.
2006
Introduction of a vaccine requires the achievement of three initial milestones. These are licensure by a national control authority that determines the vaccine is safe and effective, development of recommendations for use by expert advisory bodies on immunization, and obtaining funding for vaccination. Once these milestones have been achieved, a successful vaccination program requires that a number of interlinked programmatic components be brought together in a coordinated fashion. These include vaccine purchase and supply, vaccination service delivery, high coverage rates, surveillance of the vaccination program, immunization finance policies and practices, and political will. Human papill…
Optically Active Titanium Complexes Containing Linked Amido‐cyclopentadienyl Ligands: Their Use as Asymmetric Hydrogenation Catalysts
1996
Optically active titanium complexes of the formula Ti(η5:η1−C5R4SiMe2NCHMePh)Cl2 (R = H, Me), containing the cyclopentadienyl ligand linked to a chiral 1-phenylethylamido moiety, were synthesized and characterized in both enantiomerically pure forms. A single-crystal X-ray structural analysis of (S)()Ti(η5:η1−C5H4SiMe2NCHMePh)Cl2 shows a conformation in which the phenyl group is turned away from the metal center. NOE measurements suggest that a related structure is retained in solution. Upon activation with n-butyllithium, these complexes show hydrogenation activity toward imines with slight enantioselectivity.
The Kinetic Stability of Cationic Benzyl Titanium Complexes that Contain a Linked Amido-Cyclopentadienyl Ligand: The Influence of the Amido-Substitue…
2002
Cationic benzyl titanium complexes [Ti(η 5 : η 1 -C 5 Me 4 SiMe 2 NR')-(CH 2 Ph)] + were cleanly formed by the reaction of the dibenzyl titanium complexes [Ti(η 5 : η 1 -C 5 Me 4 SiMe 2 NR')(CH 2 Ph) 2 with B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 and [Ph 3 C][B(C 6 F 5 ) 4 ] in bromobenzene. NMR spectroscopic studies suggest that the benzyl titanium cations contain a fluxional η 2 -coordinated benzyl ligand. Kinetic analysis showed that the benzyl titanium cations decompose according to first-order kinetics and that the amido substituents R' (R' = Me, i Pr, t Bu) in the linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligand influence the lability of these benzyl titanium cations. The order of the kinetic stability of the benzyl titan…
More electron rich than cyclopentadienyl: 1,2-diaza-3,5-diborolyl as a ligand in ferrocene and ruthenocene analogs
2011
Ruthenium and iron sandwich complexes incorporating cyclopentadienyl analogs with CB(2)N(2)(-) skeletons were characterized. Electrochemical measurements supported by computational studies revealed that in combination with larger metal ions such as Ru the CB(2)N(2)(-) ligand can be more electron-rich than its organic counterpart.
Cationic Cyclopentadienyl Phenylenediamido Titanium Species Generated by Reaction of TiCpR[1,2-C6H4(NCH2t-Bu)2]R (CpR = η5-C5H5, η5-C5Me5; R = CH3, C…
2006
The reaction of TiCpR[1,2-C6H4(NNp)2]R with the Lewis acid B(C6F5)3 in noncoordinating solvent affords the new zwitterionic species TiCpR[1,2-C6H4(NNp)2)][μ-RB(C6F5)3]. When the reaction is performed in dichloromethane, the [μ-RB(C6F5)3]- anion is displaced by solvent molecules, giving ionic products in which the anion is not coordinated. The cyclopentadienyl zwitterionic complexes TiCp[1,2-C6H4(NNp)2)[μ-RB(C6F5)3] decompose via ligand scrambling between boron and titanium to give the neutral titanium complex TiCp[1,2-C6H4(NNp)2](C6F5) along with the byproduct RB(C6F5)2. In contrast, the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl analogues TiCp*[1,2-C6H4(NNp)2][μ-RB(C6F5)3] evolve through C−H activation t…
Chiral complexes of titanium containing a linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligand: synthesis, structure, and asymmetric imine hydrogenation catalysis
2000
Abstract A series of mono- and disubstituted derivatives (−)-(S)-Ti(η5:η1-C5Me4SiMe2NCHMePh)(X)Cl (X=CH2SiMe3, BH4) and (−)-(S)-Ti(η5:η1-C5Me4SiMe2NCHMePh)X2 (X=OSO2CF3, OiPr, Me, CH2Ph) was prepared from (−)-(S)-Ti(η5:η1-C5Me4SiMe2NCHMePh)Cl2 without significant racemization at the stereogenic center. The monosubstituted complexes are formed as mixtures of diastereomers. One diastereomeric monoalkyl (STi, SC)-Ti(η5:η1-C5Me4SiMe2NCHMePh)(CH2SiMe3)Cl was characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analysis. When the (−)-(S)-NCHMePh group is attached to planar chiral ring moieties 3-tBuC5H3, C9H6, and C9H5(SiMe3)-3 and coordinated at the titanium center, diastereomeric mixtures are formed…
2019
This article examines La desdicha en la constancia, a short novel by Miguel Moreno published in 1624. Firstly, I place the text in its context as a tragic Byzantine novella. Secondly, I shed light on some similarities between Moreno’s work and La viuda, casada y doncella by Lope de Vega, written in 1597 and included in the Parte VII (1617). Having studied their respective plots and their historical and literary backgrounds, it is my contention that Moreno composed his novel drawing on Lope’s play. Thus, I also analyse how he may have had access to this play. Finally, I explore the common ground between La desdicha en la constancia and the novels published by Lope in La Circe (1624), which s…
Emotional Content in Wikipedia Articles on Negative Man-Made and Nature-Made Events
2017
Wikipedia emphasizes the objectivity of content. Yet, Wikipedia articles also deal with negative events that potentially elicit intense emotions. Undesirable outcomes (e.g., earthquakes) are known to elicit sadness, while undesirable outcomes caused by others’ actions (e.g., terrorist attacks) are known to elicit anger. Internet users’ emotional responses are likely to end up in Wikipedia articles on those events as characteristics of Internet users spill over to Wikipedia articles. Therefore, we expected that Wikipedia articles on terrorist attacks contain more anger-related and less sadness-related content than articles on earthquakes. We analyzed newly created Wikipedia articles about t…
