In the second half of the seventeenth century, French diplomacy dominated Europe, including the Polish-Lithuanian state and its most important aristocratic families. The reports of French diplomats described their encounters with the most eminent families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: the Sapiehas and Radziwiłłs (the most powerful), the Pacs, Wiśniowieckis and Ogińskis. Through them, Versailles sought to implement its policy in the Polish-Lithuanian state, and win these allies through (usually honoured) promises of money. This study focuses on entrepreneurial identity constructions in the family business context through a cross-cultural lens. The study is interdisciplinary by nature drawing from and contributing to theories of identity, entrepreneurship, and family business. It aims at contributing to the added understanding of how family business entrepreneurs construe their entrepreneurial identities. Esse riescono, come le leggende, i racconti, i sogni e i miti, con linguaggio se mplice e immediato, attraverso la metafora, a presentare in modo comprensibile e accessibile alla portata della psiche infantile, situazioni di conflitto, suggerendo soluzioni più o meno magiche. Nella loro struttura a trama leggera e aperta, sono un dispositivo che, di per sé, incrocia e condensa principalmente tre dimensioni: comunicativa, narrativa e simbolica.

The dominant understanding of trauma as an epistemological crisis that can be mimetically passed on to readers has in the twenty-first century been criticized for its apolitical and ahistorical orientations. As a way to assess this criticism, this article examines trauma and storytelling in Betty Louise Bell’s Faces in the Moon (1994), a novel which places the trauma of sexual violence in a broader context of settler colonialism. Nell'era contemporanea, in cui gli architetti sono spesso alla ricerca di una bellezza spettacolare, la questione dell'ornamento trova un'importante attualità nel dibattito filosofico e architettonico. La domanda è se l'ornamento non abbia una dimensione etica. Per rispondere, studierò qui tre momenti storici decisivi di questo dibattito: la teoria dell'armonia di Alberti, l'approccio della scuola di Chicago alle relazioni di forma e funzione (LH Sullivan e J. Root) e la critica dell'ornamento in A. Loos.
