Models for supercontinuum generation beyond the slowly-varying-envelope approximation

International audience; We show numerically that both the modified Korteweg–de Vries and the sine-Gordon models are conducive to the generation of supercontinua with spectral bandwidths of several octaves, when an intense short pulse is launched as the initial condition. These models beyond the slowly-varying-envelope approximation could play an important role in modeling supercontinuum generation in gas-filled hollow waveguides.

Three series of palladium-based catalysts have been studied by Low Energy Ion Scattering (LEIS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The first series is comprised of Na-Pd/SiO{sub 2} catalysts, obtained by addition of palladium to a silica support and by further addition of sodium ions with a Na/Pd atomic ratio (R) equal to 0,6.4 and 25.6. The second series consists of palladium catalysts supported on natural pumice, in which, due to a different loading of supported palladium, R{prime}, the (Na+K)/Pd atomic ratio, is equal to 17.0 and 39.4. Mild, Fast, and Easy To Conduct MoCl5-Mediated Dehydrogenative Coupling Reactions in Flow

A convenient and straightforward approach to performing oxidative coupling reactions in flow is presented. A collection of electron-rich benzene derivatives was subjected to this protocol, and the distinct utility of molybdenum pentachloride (MoCl5) is established. Using this unexplored protocol, biphenyls could be obtained in 21–91% isolated yield. This simple protocol opens a new chapter in reagent-mediated dehydrogenative coupling reactions, and yields are compared to classical approaches.

Hierarchical Beta zeolites obtained from concentrated reaction mixtures (H2O/Si = 2.5–7.0) in the presence of CTAB and their conventional and nanosponge analogues were investigated in a one-pot cascade environmentally friendly Prins–Friedel–Crafts reaction of butyraldehyde with 3-buten-1-ol and anisole under mild conditions (60 °C). Abstract Catalytic performances of different zeolites (Beta and mordenites), scandium triflate based catalysts, mesoporous UVM-7 encapsulated scandium triflate and physical mixtures prepared under ultrasound irradiation were evaluated in the hydroamination of aniline and substituted anilines with styrene. The performances of these catalysts were controlled by the type of acidity and strength. Thus, the conversion was mainly controlled by the strength of the acid sites and their accessibility, while the selectivity appeared to be controlled by the Lewis/Bronsted type of acidity. Flow resistance equation for rills

In this paper, a new flow resistance equation for rill flow was deduced applying dimensional analysis and self‐similarity theory. At first, the incomplete self‐similarity hypothesis was used for establishing the flow velocity distribution whose integration gives the theoretical expression of the Darcy–Weisbach friction factor. Then the deduced theoretical resistance equation was tested by some measurements of flow velocity, water depth, cross section area, wetted perimeter, and bed slope carried out in 106 reaches of some rills shaped on an experimental plot.
