Endometrial stromal sarcomas (ESSs) of the uterus are rare gynecological malignancies. Common locations of distant metastases are vagina, vulva, lung, mediastinum, abdomen, bones and ovaries.We present the case of a 69-year-old woman with a Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) IIb (classification 2009) ESS of the uterus of high-grade malignancy. Initially, a hysterectomy Piver II and total colpectomy were performed, followed by pelvic field irradiation. 8 months later, the patient suffered seizures and hemiparesis. Changes in lung-cancer mortality trends in Spain

Several changes in smoking patterns over the past decades in Spain can be expected to result in a shift in lung-cancer mortality rates. We examined time trends in lung-cancer mortality from 1973-1997 using a log-linear Poisson age-period-cohort model. The standardized lung-cancer mortality rate for men almost doubled, from 31.4 per 100,000 in 1973 to 58.6 in 1997, with an average annual increase of 2.7%. Mortality increased for male generations born until 1952 as a consequence of the increasing cigarette smoking in successive birth cohorts. In patients with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS), pulmonary haemodynamics can show both transient perturbations during sleep and permanent alterations. During sleep, repeated fluctuations in pulmonary artery pressure and pulmonary wedge pressure, coincident with apnoeas, can be observed. Calculation of transmural pressure values is preferable to intravascular pressures in OSAS, due to the marked swings in intrathoracic pressure associated with obstructive apnoeas. Pulmonary artery pressure may progressively increase during sleep, particularly in close sequences of highly desaturating apnoeas. Purpose: To study the performance of Dosimetry Check (DC), an EPID-based dosimetry software, which allows performing transit dosimetry, in low density medium, by comparing calculations in-phantom, and analysing results for 15 lung patients.
