Due to their unique architecture and the exceptional dimensions of the largest monument in the group, the Arles-Fontvieille hypogea are among the most remarkable megalithic monuments in Europe and the western Mediterranean region. A collective research program was launched in 2013 to study these well-known monuments which have, paradoxically, been the subject of relatively few field studies since the 19th century. In the context of climate change, as reflected by a dryer Mediterraneanbasin, this thesis focused on the study of the contemporary and future variability(1957-2100) of the wintertime (September to April) very long dryspells events (called VLDSe) in the Mediterranean basin. An original methodologywas developed in this thesis in order to define VLDSe as singularclimatic events, characterized by location, duration and spatial extent criteria.76 VLDSe were detected in the Mediterranean basin on the contemporaryperiod (1957-2013). Based on some literary extracts (autobiographical prose and poetry) of the Valencian writer Josep Piera, the relationship between the experience of the journey and the writing that comes along as a result of it is analyzed. Three key concepts are discussed : the journey, the Mediterranean and literature. As we will see, the Mediterranean is understood here as a close and familiar world : a mythical, historical, cultural and vital geographical space. The places visited (Greece, Naples, Sicily, etc.) interact and produce a dialogue with the geographical space and the notion of human time.

In the Iron Age, the influence began with an exploratory phase, and then went on to create new settlements and colonise new areas away from the coast. The irrigation schedule in arid areas has to be efficient in order to reduce losses due to evaporation and deep infiltration. Irrigation optimization poses the need to establish with precision the value of actual evapotranspiration (ETa), and the crop coefficient (Kc). The water soil availability can be increased using hydrogel and organic matter amendments, and their effects could vary ETa and Kc. This paper takes into account the characterisation of ephemeral stream hydrology from Mediterranean environments. The heavy floods that these countries suffer are due to firstly, the physical watershed features (steep slopes, scarced vegetation cover and thin soils) and, secondly, to the intense and variable rainfall. Large quantities of precipitation fall in a matter of hours, or even minutes, over very steep catchments, causing catastrophic flash-floods, with very pointed hydrographs and short time lags. Is the opposition between specialized and non specialized productions a key to characterizethe lithic assemblages from the southern Chassey Culture ?
