Complexity in project co-creation of knowledge for innovation

2020

The European Union (EU) promotes collaboration across functions and borders in its funded innovation projects, which are seen as complex collaboration to co-create knowledge. This requires the engagement of multiple stakeholders throughout the duration of the project. To probe complexity in EU-funded innovation projects the research question is: How does complexity affect the co-creation of knowledge in innovation projects, according to project participants? The data for this study was collected from project experts in the form of short narratives, using a questionnaire based on the elements of complexity of Mitleton-Kelly (2003). The results indicate that complexity characterises the co-cr…

Hybrid WENO schemes for polydisperse sedimentation models

2015

International audience; Polydisperse sedimentation models can be described by a strongly coupled system of conservation laws for the concentration of each species of solids. Typical solutions for the sedimentation model considered for batch settling in a column include stationary kinematic shocks separating layers of sediment of different composition. This phenomenon, known as segregation of species, is a specially demanding task for numerical simulation due to the need of accurate numerical simulations. Very high-order accurate solutions can be constructed by incorporating characteristic information, available due to the hyperbolicity analysis made in Donat and Mulet [A secular equation fo…

New analysis of ηπ tensor resonances measured at the COMPASS experiment

2018

We present a new amplitude analysis of the $\eta\pi$ $D$-wave in $\pi^- p\to \eta\pi^- p$ measured by COMPASS. Employing an analytical model based on the principles of the relativistic $S$-matrix, we find two resonances that can be identified with the $a_2(1320)$ and the excited $a_2^\prime(1700)$, and perform a comprehensive analysis of their pole positions. For the mass and width of the $a_2$ we find $M=(1307 \pm 1 \pm 6)$~MeV and $\Gamma=(112 \pm 1 \pm 8)$~MeV, and for the excited state $a_2^\prime$ we obtain $M=(1720 \pm 10 \pm 60)$~MeV and $\Gamma=(280\pm 10 \pm 70)$~MeV, respectively.

Maxima of a Random Model of the Riemann Zeta Function over Intervals of Varying Length

2021

We consider a model of the Riemann zeta function on the critical axis and study its maximum over intervals of length $(\log T)^{\theta}$, where $\theta$ is either fixed or tends to zero at a suitable rate. It is shown that the deterministic level of the maximum interpolates smoothly between the ones of log-correlated variables and of i.i.d. random variables, exhibiting a smooth transition 'from $\frac34$ to $\frac14$' in the second order. This provides a natural context where extreme value statistics of log-correlated variables with time-dependent variance and rate occur. A key ingredient of the proof is a precise upper tail tightness estimate for the maximum of the model on intervals of si…

Occurrence of a case of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and B co-infection during the epidemic season 2012–2013

2013

Abstract We report the detection of one case of co-infection with influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and B, occurred during the 2012–2013 influenza season in Sicily. The dual infection was identified in a 18-year-old boy, who was not covered by specific vaccination and who had no other pre-existing risk factors. He presented classical symptoms of influenza-like illness developing no respiratory complications. A(H1N1)pdm09 viral concentration was initially about 10-fold higher than B virus, whereas its clearance was more rapidly achieved than in the case of B virus infection. Although influenza co-infection appears to be a rare event, a continued influenza surveillance activity is recommended, in order …

How does the online service level influence consumers’ purchase intentions before a transaction? A formative approach

2016

AbstractThe present paper tries to study the impact of online services level in contexts where transactions have not been done yet, through the adoption of a formative approach. In this scene, the present research considers two main dimensions of online services (pre-purchase services and transaction-related services) in a context of clothing purchasing process. Before defining the research and determining the sector to be analyzed, 7 focus groups were conducted. From the obtained conclusions, this study was carried on in the textile sector. A survey with 370 effective respondents was carried out. To measure the different concepts in the model, several scales were used based on literature p…

About the link between the detailed description of transitions in an ion and the average-ion models

2009

We study the link which exists between microscopic (detailed) models for the evolution of the electronic configurations in a population of ions and the macroscopic (average ion) models. Rigorous asymptotics are presented in situations where they exist (large temperature; almost empty or almost full shells), and numerical simulations are presented.

Commensurability in Artin groups of spherical type

2019

Let $A$ and $A'$ be two Artin groups of spherical type, and let $A_1,\dots,A_p$ (resp. $A'_1,\dots,A'_q$) be the irreducible components of $A$ (resp. $A'$). We show that $A$ and $A'$ are commensurable if and only if $p=q$ and, up to permutation of the indices, $A_i$ and $A'_i$ are commensurable for every $i$. We prove that, if two Artin groups of spherical type are commensurable, then they have the same rank. For a fixed $n$, we give a complete classification of the irreducible Artin groups of rank $n$ that are commensurable with the group of type $A_n$. Note that it will remain 6 pairs of groups to compare to get the complete classification of Artin groups of spherical type up to commensur…

PERIPHERALLY SPECIFIED HOMOMORPHS OF LINK GROUPS

2005

Johnson and Livingston have characterized peripheral structures in homomorphs of knot groups. We extend their approach to the case of links. The main result is an algebraic characterization of all possible peripheral structures in certain homomorphic images of link groups.
