Free differential Galois groups
2019
We study the structure of the absolute differential Galois group of a rational function field over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. In particular, we relate the behavior of differential embedding problems to the condition that the absolute differential Galois group is free as a proalgebraic group. Building on this, we prove Matzat's freeness conjecture in the case that the field of constants is algebraically closed of countably infinite transcendence degree over the rationals. This is the first known case of the twenty year old conjecture.
The 5 Star Movement local government in Bagheria
2017
Since 2014 Bagheria (Palermo) has been governed by the mayor Patrizio Cinque of 5 Star Movement (M5s). The case study of Bagheria shows how this local government works, focusing on the movement institutionalization and on the main problems faced putting in practice within a representative institution the M5S idea of political reform. Analyzing first the local context, the paper reconstructs the Cosa Nostra infiltrations in past administrations (Bagheria’s town council was being dissolved because it had been infiltrated by organised crime) and their current effects. Then starting from electoral campaign it illustrates communication strategy and the frames used by the two main candidates. Fur…
A second pathway of activation of the Torpedo acetylcholine receptor channel
1991
We have studied the interaction of the reversible acetylcholine esterase inhibitor (-)physostigmine (D-eserine) with the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) from Torpedo marmorata electric tissue by means of ligand-induced ion flux into nAChR-rich membrane vesicles and of equilibrium binding. We find that (-) physostigmine induces cation flux (and also binds to the receptor) even in the presence of saturating concentrations of antagonists of acetylcholine, such as D-tubocurarine, alpha-bungarotoxin or antibody WF6. The direct action on the acetylcholine receptor is not affected by removal of the methylcarbamate function from the drug and thus is not due to carbamylation of the receptor…
The Mean-Field Limit for Solid Particles in a Navier-Stokes Flow
2008
We propose a mathematical derivation of Brinkman's force for a cloud of particles immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. Specifically, we consider the Stokes or steady Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded domain Omega subset of R-3 for the velocity field u of an incompressible fluid with kinematic viscosity v and density 1. Brinkman's force consists of a source term 6 pi rvj where j is the current density of the particles, and of a friction term 6 pi vpu where rho is the number density of particles. These additional terms in the motion equation for the fluid are obtained from the Stokes or steady Navier-Stokes equations set in Omega minus the disjoint union of N balls of radius epsilo…
Oppvekst i nordiske kortfilmer : En representasjonsanalyse av 20 kortfilmer i læringsportalen Norden i skolen
2018
Når flukten blir digital : Filmen Your phone is now a refugee's phone analysert fra et medieteknisk, narratologisk og retorisk perspektiv
2017
Materialet i oppgaven er BBC Media Action sin film Your phone is now a refu…
Markedsføring av kulturtilbud til de unge. En holdningsundersøkelse av de unges assosiasjoner knyttet til ulike kulturtilbud
2021
Master´s thesis in Social Communation (KOM501) This master’s thesis discusses how marketers in non-profit cultural institutions can market cultural goods to those under the age of 30. This thesis use strategies in the marketing field to understand the target groups under the age of 30, and based on this knowledge the paper develops guidelines for content marketing. In order to identify premises for communication practises in the cultural sector, this thesis evaluates young people’s preferred cultural experiences, their associations with different types of hedonic products, and the types of content and channels that influence their product choice. This thesis illustrates how marketers can us…

Master´s thesis in Social Communication (KOM501) The purpose of this project is to examine three different outdoor adventurers on Instagram. The pictures and nature scenes are published with high quality. I seek to find how the people behind the accounts portray Norwegian nature and outdoor life on Instagram. The thesis is: "How do outdoor adventurers present their outdoor activity on Instagram? How can the content be linked to the formative dimensions of outdoor life and the special covid-19 summer?» A social semiotic text analysis based on the total of 14 Instagram posts, forms the starting point for the first part of the thesis. In the analysis the photographs are in focus because Instag…
