Synthesis and structure of stable cis-dimethyl complex of oxotungsten(VI)

2007

Abstract Oxotungsten(VI) complex cis -[WO(L t Bu )Me 2 ] (L t Bu  = methylamino- N , N -bis(2-methylene-4-methyl-6- tert -butylphenolate) dianion) was prepared by the transmetallation reaction of [WO(L t Bu )Cl 2 ] (either cis or trans isomer) with methyl magnesium iodide. This unexpectedly stable dialkyl complex can be activated by Et 2 AlCl to catalyze the ring-opening metathesis polymerization of norbornene.

Oxygen K-edge XANES investigation of NicMg1−cO solid solutions

2005

A series of Ni(c)Mg(1-c)O solid solutions are characterized by means of synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption near-edge-structure spectroscopy at oxygen K-edge (532 eV). A dramatic drop of the pre-edge peak intensity is observed in the Ni(c)Mg(1-c)O system upon dilution. It can be attributed to a decrease of 3d(8)(Ni(2+))-2p(O(2-)) mixing upon dilution with magnesium ions due to a decrease of the number of 3d vacancies as nickel ion is replaced by magnesium ion. Similarly, the decrease of the number of 4s and 4p vacancies also leads to a decrease of 4s4p(Ni(2+))-2p(O(2-)) hybridization, and hence a drop of intensities of features B and C. The features E and F are more…

Aminobis(phenolate)s of imidomolybdenum(VI) and -tungsten(VI)

2009

Abstract The reactions of trans-[MoO(ONOMe)Cl2] 1 (ONOMe = methylamino-N,N-bis(2-methylene-4,6-dimethylphenolate) dianion) and trans-[MoO(ONOtBu)Cl2] 2 (ONOtBu = methylamino-N,N-bis(2-methylene-4-methyl-6-tert-butylphenolate) dianion) with PhNCO afforded new imido molybdenum complexes trans-[Mo(NPh)(ONOMe)Cl2] 3 and trans-[Mo(NPh)(ONOtBu)Cl2] 4, respectively. As analogous oxotungsten starting materials did not show similar reactivity, corresponding imido tungsten complexes were prepared by the reaction between [W(NPh)Cl4] with aminobis(phenol)s. These reactions yielded cis- and trans-isomers of dichloro complexes [W(NPh)(ONOMe)Cl2] 5 and [W(NPh)(ONOtBu)Cl2] 6, respectively. The molecular st…

Semiempirical PM5 molecular orbital study on chlorophylls and bacteriochlorophylls: Comparison of semiempirical,ab initio, and density functional res…

2003

The semiempirical PM5 method has been used to calculate fully optimized structures of magnesium-bacteriochlorin, magnesium-chlorin, magnesium-porphin, mesochlorophyll a, chlorophylls a, b, c(1), c(2), c(3), and d, and bacteriochlorophylls a, b, c, d, e, f, g, and h with all homologous structures. Hartree-Fock/6-31G* ab initio and density functional B3LYP/6-31G* methods were used to optimize structures of methyl chlorophyllide a, chlorophyll c(1), and methyl bacteriochlorophyllides a and c for comparison. Spectroscopic transition energies of the chromophores and their 1:1 or 1:2 solvent complexes were calculated with the Zindo/S CIS method. The self-consistent reaction field model was used t…

AISF position paper on liver disease and pregnancy.

2016

Abstract The relationship between liver disease and pregnancy is of great clinical impact. Severe liver disease in pregnancy is rare; however, pregnancy-related liver disease is the most frequent cause of liver dysfunction during pregnancy and represents a severe threat to foetal and maternal survival. A rapid differential diagnosis between liver disease related or unrelated to pregnancy is required in women who present with liver dysfunction during pregnancy. This report summarizes the recommendation of an expert panel established by the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF) on the management of liver disease during pregnancy. The article provides an overview of liver disea…

Magnesium alloys laser (Nd:YAG) cladding and alloying with side injection of aluminium powder

2003

International audience; The development of the high purity magnesium alloys (such as WE43) incites the designers to reconsider them, and the car industry appears, these days, the most interested to use this kind of alloy. However, due to their ignitability and tendency to oxidation, magnesium alloys require surface treatments. A series of experiments was carried out in order to improve the corrosion resistance of two types of magnesium alloys, WE43 and ZE41. In most cases, the substrate surface was treated before laser interaction. Side injection of aluminium powder under a 3 kW cw Nd:YAG laser was employed. The deposited layers present very good bond properties. The resulting microstructur…

Magnesium alloys (WE43 and ZE41) characterisation for laser applications

2004

International audience; One of the most important parameters in laser treatment is the quantity of beam energy absorbed by the substrate. Despite its important role played in laser processes, this factor is rarely available for the laser sources wavelengths and at high temperatures reached during such treatments. A series of experiments were carried out in order to characterise, from this point of view, two types of magnesium alloys, WE43 and ZE41, often used in laser applications (cladding, alloying, welding, etc.). The results represent an important step in order to understand Mg-alloys behaviour under laser beam action.

Mode of interaction of different polyanions with the first (), the second (C2) and the fourth (C4) component of complement—II

1976

Abstract Dextran sulfate, polyvinyl sulfate, liquoid, heparin and Sp 54, ∗ (a pentosanpoly-sulfoester) prevented the uptake of C2 by EAC4b. In contrast to EAC 4 b 2 a , treatment of EAC4b2 with polyanions led to dissociation into EAC4b and C2. The inhibition of C2 uptake by polyanions could be reduced by increasing magnesium concentration to levels which are normally inhibitory, suggesting that Mg ++ ions are sequestered by these sulfated polyanions.

Investigation of lattice dynamical and dielectric properties of MgO under high pressure by means of mid- and far-infrared spectroscopy.

2013

We investigate the lattice dynamical and dielectric properties of MgO single crystals and powders by measurements in the mid- and far-infrared frequency region under high pressures, ranging up to 21.7 GPa. The shift of the restrahlen region is used to determine the pressure dependence of the transverse and longitudinal optical modes. The analysis of the refractive index in the mid- and far-infrared region allowed us to obtain the pressure behavior of the static and electronic dielectric constants. The transverse effective charge slowly decreases under high pressure, reflecting the stability of MgO. As a consequence, the pressure dependence of the static and electronic dielectric constants i…
