La personalidad de las sociedades. Descripción y dinámica

2018

[EN] Extraversion is considered as the fundamental and basic dimension of personality from the Unique Trait Personality Theory [1]. Extraversion, as temperamental dimension, involves cognitive dimensions such as racionality and emotionality. Carl Jung¿s theory of types [2] states a complex dynamics among these dimensions. From this theory a typology of personality arises. Amigó [3] adapted Jung¿s theory to applye it to societies. A reflexion about history is given by the dynamics of societies through time. This approach starts from Jung's idea of the opposite dimensions that complement and imprint movement, and from Amigó's theory about societies survivance [4], which argues that crises cau…

A probabilistic estimation and prediction technique for dynamic continuous social science models: The evolution of the attitude of the Basque Country…

2015

In this paper, a computational technique to deal with uncertainty in dynamic continuous models in Social Sciences is presented.Considering data from surveys, the method consists of determining the probability distribution of the survey output and this allows to sample data and fit the model to the sampled data using a goodness-of-fit criterion based the χ2-test. Taking the fitted parameters that were not rejected by the χ2-test, substituting them into the model and computing their outputs, 95% confidence intervals in each time instant capturing the uncertainty of the survey data (probabilistic estimation) is built. Using the same set of obtained model parameters, a prediction over …

Corrigendum: ExGUtils: A Python Package for Statistical Analysis With the ex-Gaussian Probability Density

2018

The study of reaction times and their underlying cognitive processes is an important field in Psychology. Reaction times are usually modeled through the ex-Gaussian distribution, because it provides a good fit to multiple empirical data. The complexity of this distribution makes the use of computational tools an essential element in the field. Therefore, there is a strong need for efficient and versatile computational tools for the research in this area. In this manuscript we discuss some mathematical details of the ex-Gaussian distribution and apply the ExGUtils package, a set of functions and numerical tools, programmed for python, developed for numerical analysis of data involving the ex…

The General Routing Problem polyhedron: Facets from the RPP and GTSP polyhedra

1998

[EN] In this paper we study the polyhedron associated with the General Routing Problem (GRP). This problem, first introduced by Orloff in 1974, is a generalization of both the Rural Postman Problem (RPP) and the Graphical Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP) and, thus, is NP -hard. We describe a formulation of the problem such that from every non-trivial facet-inducing inequality for the RPP and GTSP polyhedra, we obtain facet-inducing inequalities for the GRP polyhedron, We describe a new family of facet-inducing inequalities for the GRP, the honeycomb constraints, which seem to be very useful for solving GRP and RPP instances. Finally, new classes of facets obtained by composition of facet-i…

Avoiding strange attractors in efficient parametric families of iterative methods for solving nonlinear problems

2019

[EN] Searching zeros of nonlinear functions often employs iterative procedures. In this paper, we construct several families of iterative methods with memory from one without memory, that is, we have increased the order of convergence without adding new functional evaluations. The main aim of this manuscript yields in the advantage that the use of real multidimensional dynamics gives us to decide among the different classes designed and, afterwards, to select its most stable members. Moreover, we have found some elements of the family whose behavior includes strange attractors of different kinds that must be avoided in practice. In this sense, Feigenbaum diagrams have resulted an extremely …

Graded-index optical fiber emulator of an interacting three-atom system: illumination control of particle statistics and classical non-separability

2019

[EN] We show that a system of three trapped ultracold and strongly interacting atoms in one-dimension can be emulated using an optical fiber with a graded-index profile and thin metallic slabs. While the wave-nature of single quantum particles leads to direct and well known analogies with classical optics, for interacting many-particle systems with unrestricted statistics such analoga are not straightforward. Here we study the symmetries present in the fiber eigenstates by using discrete group theory and show that, by spatially modulating the incident field, one can select the atomic statistics, i.e., emulate a system of three bosons, fermions or two bosons or fermions plus an additional di…

Explaining shopping behavior in a market economy country: A short-term mathematical model applied to the case of Spain

2020

[EN] In recent decades, pathological consumption has become a growing behavioral misbehavior. Impulsive consumption is governed by two internal behavioral mechanisms that respond fundamentally to the hedonism or Pascal effect and to the emulation or Veblen effect. Today's development of technology acts as a catalyst of consumption by increasing access and availability to products, as well as the advertisement impact. This paper presents a compartmental discrete matrix mathematical model that allows short-term estimates of ordinary, impulsive, and pathological buyers in Spain in three different economic scenarios. The results show that impulsive and pathological buyers will increase in all t…

On sigma-subnormal subgroups of factorised finite groups

2020

Abstract Let σ = { σ i : i ∈ I } be a partition of the set P of all prime numbers. A subgroup X of a finite group G is called σ-subnormal in G if there is chain of subgroups X = X 0 ⊆ X 1 ⊆ ⋯ ⊆ X n = G with X i − 1 normal in X i or X i / C o r e X i ( X i − 1 ) is a σ i -group for some i ∈ I , 1 ≤ i ≤ n . In the special case that σ is the partition of P into sets containing exactly one prime each, the σ-subnormality reduces to the familiar case of subnormality. If a finite soluble group G = A B is factorised as the product of the subgroups A and B, and X is a subgroup of G such that X is σ-subnormal in 〈 X , X g 〉 for all g ∈ A ∪ B , we prove that X is σ-subnormal in G. This is an extension…

A question from the Kourovka Notebook on formation products

2003

[EN] It is shown in this paper that if X is a class of simple groups such that pi(X) = char X, the X-saturated formation H generated by a finite group cannot be expressed as the Gaschütz product F o G of two non-X-saturated formations if H = G. It answers some open questions on products of formations. The relation between omega-saturated and X-saturated formations is also discussed.
