Educar jugando y dialogando. Derechos de la infancia, intencionalidad, familia y lenguaje

2019

[EN] The article reviews the rights that contribute to the achievement of a happy life from childhood and seizes on the key elements that seek dignity in order to develop happiness. First, the role of the family in setting up personal identity and security, and in establishing personal relationships. Second, the integral personal training and the education in the development of the critical sense and freedom for responsible exercise, as well as the ability to understand, express and communicate to improve or overcome problematic situations. Finally, gambling, as a basic tool of enjoyment in childhood, and, at the same time, learning in the two previous domains, sometimes unique complement o…

Differentiation, differentiated integration and disintegration in a ‘post-Brexit-era’

2019

In contrast to the ‘ever closer Union among the peoples of Europe’ invoked in the preamble of the Treaty of Rome, Frank Schimmelfennig and Thomas Winzen ponder whether the European Union (EU) is ‘growing ever looser’. Differentiation can take various forms which are often intertwined, such as functional, institutional, spatial/territorial as well as temporal differentiation. In 1998, Petersen studied Denmark’s integration policy in what he called a ‘dilemma’ between influence capability and stress sensitivity. With the Great Recession of 2007This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book 2008, the EU entered a new multi…

Dynamic Diglyme-Mediated Self-Assembly of Gold Nanoclusters

2015

We report the assembly of gold nanoclusters by the nonthiolate ligand diglyme into discrete and dynamic assemblies. To understand this surprising phenomenon, the assembly of Au20(SC2H4Ph)15-diglyme into Au20(SC2H4Ph)15-diglyme-Au20(SC2H4Ph)15 is explored in detail. The assembly is examined by high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy, size exclusion chromatography, mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, and calorimetry. We establish a dissociation constant for dimer to monomer conversion of 20.4 μM. Theoretical models validated by transient absorption spectroscopy predict a low-spin monomer and a high-spin dimer, with assembly enabled through weak diglyme oxygen-g…

Sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate self-aggregation in vacuo: molecular dynamics simulation.

2010

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted for systems in vacuo consisting of n AOT(-) anions (bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate ions) and n+/- 1 or n Na(+) ions up to n = 20. For n = 15, positively charged systems with Li(+), K(+), and Cs(+) cations were also considered. All systems were observed to form reverse micelle-like aggregates whose centre is occupied by cations and polar heads in a very compact solid-like way, while globally the aggregate has the form of an elongated and rather flat ellipsoid. Various types of statistical analyses were carried out on the systems to enlighten structural and dynamical properties including gyration radius, atomic pair correlation functions, at…

Quasi Conjunction and Inclusion Relation in Probabilistic Default Reasoning

2011

We study the quasi conjunction and the Goodman & Nguyen inclusion relation for conditional events, in the setting of probabilistic default reasoning under coherence. We deepen two recent results given in (Gilio and Sanfilippo, 2010): the first result concerns p-entailment from a family F of conditional events to the quasi conjunction C(S) associated with each nonempty subset S of F; the second result, among other aspects, analyzes the equivalence between p-entailment from F and p-entailment from C(S), where S is some nonempty subset of F. We also characterize p-entailment by some alternative theorems. Finally, we deepen the connections between p-entailment and the Goodman & Nguyen inclusion…

Centering and Compound Conditionals under Coherence

2016

There is wide support in logic , philosophy , and psychology for the hypothesis that the probability of the indicative conditional of natural language, \(P(\textit{if } A \textit{ then } B)\), is the conditional probability of B given A, P(B|A). We identify a conditional which is such that \(P(\textit{if } A \textit{ then } B)= P(B|A)\) with de Finetti’s conditional event, B|A. An objection to making this identification in the past was that it appeared unclear how to form compounds and iterations of conditional events. In this paper, we illustrate how to overcome this objection with a probabilistic analysis, based on coherence, of these compounds and iterations. We interpret the compounds a…

On Table Arrangements, Scrabble Freaks, and Jumbled Pattern Matching

2010

Given a string s, the Parikh vector of s, denoted p(s), counts the multiplicity of each character in s. Searching for a match of Parikh vector q (a “jumbled string”) in the text s requires to find a substring t of s with p(t) = q. The corresponding decision problem is to verify whether at least one such match exists. So, for example for the alphabet Σ = {a, b, c}, the string s = abaccbabaaa has Parikh vector p(s) = (6,3,2), and the Parikh vector q = (2,1,1) appears once in s in position (1,4). Like its more precise counterpart, the renown Exact String Matching, Jumbled Pattern Matching has ubiquitous applications, e.g., string matching with a dyslectic word processor, table rearrangements, …

Conjunction and Disjunction Among Conditional Events

2017

We generalize, in the setting of coherence, the notions of conjunction and disjunction of two conditional events to the case of n conditional events. Given a prevision assessment on the conjunction of two conditional events, we study the set of coherent extensions for the probabilities of the two conditional events. Then, we introduce by a progressive procedure the notions of conjunction and disjunction for n conditional events. Moreover, by defining the negation of conjunction and of disjunction, we show that De Morgan’s Laws still hold. We also show that the associative and commutative properties are satisfied. Finally, we examine in detail the conjunction for a family \(\mathcal F\) of t…

Conditional Random Quantities and Compounds of Conditionals

2013

In this paper we consider finite conditional random quantities and conditional previsions assessments in the setting of coherence. We use a suitable representation for conditional random quantities; in particular the indicator of a conditional event $E|H$ is looked at as a three-valued quantity with values 1, or 0, or $p$, where $p$ is the probability of $E|H$. We introduce a notion of iterated conditional random quantity of the form $(X|H)|K$ defined as a suitable conditional random quantity, which coincides with $X|HK$ when $H \subseteq K$. Based on a recent paper by S. Kaufmann, we introduce a notion of conjunction of two conditional events and then we analyze it in the setting of cohere…

Generalized probabilistic modus ponens

2017

Modus ponens (from A and “if A then C” infer C) is one of the most basic inference rules. The probabilistic modus ponens allows for managing uncertainty by transmitting assigned uncertainties from the premises to the conclusion (i.e., from P(A) and P(C|A) infer P(C)). In this paper, we generalize the probabilistic modus ponens by replacing A by the conditional event A|H. The resulting inference rule involves iterated conditionals (formalized by conditional random quantities) and propagates previsions from the premises to the conclusion. Interestingly, the propagation rules for the lower and the upper bounds on the conclusion of the generalized probabilistic modus ponens coincide with the re…
