Explicit proton transfer in classical molecular dynamics simulations.
2014
We present Hydrogen Dynamics (HYDYN), a method that allows explicit proton transfer in classical force field molecular dynamics simulations at thermodynamic equilibrium. HYDYN reproduces the characteristic properties of the excess proton in water, from the special pair dance, to the continuous fluctuation between the limiting Eigen and Zundel complexes, and the water reorientation beyond the first solvation layer. Advantages of HYDYN with respect to existing methods are computational efficiency, microscopic reversibility, and easy parameterization for any force field peerReviewed
Psihosociālie riski farmaceita darbā un preventīvie pasākumi
2018
Psihosociālie riski farmaceita darbā un preventīvie pasākumi. Darba autore: Svetlana Tokareva. Darba zinātniskā vadītāja: Dr. med., asociētā profesore Ženija Roja. Darbs izklāstīts uz 48 lpp., ietver 14 attēlus, 1 tabulu, 2 pielikumus, 37 informatīvos avotus. Pētījums sastāv no 3 daļām.

Analysis of MAC-level throughput in LTE systems with link rate adaptation and HARQ protocols
2015
LTE is rapidly gaining momentum for building future 4G cellular systems, and real operational networks are under deployment worldwide. To achieve high throughput performance, in addition to an advanced physical layer design LTE exploits a combination of sophisticated mechanisms at the radio resource management layer. Clearly, this makes difficult to develop analytical tools to accurately assess and optimise the user perceived throughput under realistic channel assumptions. Thus, most existing studies focus only on link-layer throughput or consider individual mechanisms in isolation. The main contribution of this paper is a unified modelling framework of the MAC-level downlink throughput of …
Determinants of the interannual relationships between remote sensed photosynthetic activity and rainfall in tropical Africa
2007
International audience; The response of photosynthetic activity to interannual rainfall variations in Africa South of the Sahara is examined using 20 years (1981-2000) of Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) AVHRR data. Linear correlations and regressions were computed between annual NDVI and annual rainfall at a 0.5° latitude/longitude resolution, based on two gridded precipitation datasets (Climate Prediction Center Merged Analysis of Precipitation [CMAP] and Climatic Research Unit [CRU]). The spatial patterns were then examined to detect how they relate to the mean annual rainfall amounts, land-cover types as from the Global Land Cover 2000 data set, soil properties and soil typ…
El papel de las mujeres en la historia según las imágenes de los libros de texto. Comparación de manuales editados durante la LOE y la LOMCE
2016
This paper focuses on the study of the role of women and its representation in the images of the textbooks of Environmental Knowledge and Social Sciences subjects, specifically in History topics. Textbooks can give us an overview of how women are presented in the historical discourse carried from Primary Education, and through their analysis we can see if it has or not an androcentric bias. Therefrom it’s developed an analysis and a comparison of the data between volumes of both last education laws implemented in Spain (LOE and LOMCE).
Adaptive smoothing spline using non-convex penalties
2022
We propose a new adaptive penalty for smoothing via penalized splines. The new form of adaptive penalization is based on penalizing the differences of the coefficients of adjacent bases, using non-convex penalties. This makes possible to estimate curves with varying amounts of smoothness. Comparisons with respect to some competitors are presented.

«“Isn’t It so Heartbreaking to See Our Loved Ones Decline Right before Our eyes”: Exploring Posts As Illness Stories».
2020
Set in the tradition of studies that look at digital interactions, this paper aims to explore the dimension of illness as referred to by informal caregivers in online exchanges. The research attempts to a) describe posts as mediated illness stories by comparing them to the storytelling in interaction model (Mishler), and b) explore what is revealed about the writer. A data set of 7371 posts (including sub-replies) has been studied as personal narratives in non-clinical therapeutic exchanges by means of Digital Conversation Analysis (Giles et al.), and investigated as written emotional disclosure (Pennebaker). Posts are found to convey explicit and implicit messages to be understood and inco…
