Intravitreal pegaptanib sodium for refractory pseudophakic macular oedema.

Evaluate the efficacy of intravitreal pegaptanib sodium (Macugen®) in refractory pseudophakic cystoid macular oedema (CME). Prospective, nonrandomized, interventional case series. Four eyes of four patients with refractory pseudophakic CME to pars plana vitrectomy and intravitreal bevacizumab and triamcinolone, were treated with pegaptanib sodium, with a mean follow up of 4 months. Pre- and postinfection examinations included assessment of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) using the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study chart (ETDRS), fluorescein angiography (FA), and optical coherence tomography (OCT). The treatment for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is surgery, including pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and scleral buckling (SB). Orthotopic bladder cancer xenografts are essential for testing novel therapies and molecular manipulations of cell lines in vivo. Current xenografts rely on tumor cell inoculation by intravesical instillation or direct injection into the bladder wall. Instillation is limited by the lack of cell lines that are tumorigenic when delivered in this manner. The invasive model inflicts morbidity on the mice by the need for laparotomy and mobilization of the bladder. Furthermore this procedure is complex and time-consuming. Objective: To analyse the relationship between doses of gemcitabine-carboplatin (GEM-CARBO) administered and incidence and level of haematological and renal toxicity, and the adherence to the treatment in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: Retrospective study which lasted for 37 months. We were able to obtain the minimum set of data needed to carry out the follow-up with the help of Farmis-Oncofarm® software and the medical and pharmacotherapeutic records. Effect of Age on Systemic Exposure and Haematological Toxicity of Carboplatin in Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients

The aim of this study was to evaluate systemic exposure to carboplatin and its haematological toxicity in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer both older and younger than 70 years when the target area under the curve (AUC) in elderly patients was reduced by 20%. For this purpose, a population pharmacokinetic model was developed and the haema- tological toxicity of the drug was assessed. A total of 33 patients received carboplatin on day 1 and gemcitabine (1250 mg ⁄ m 2 ) on days 1 and 8. This schedule was repeated every 21 days. Gemcitabine plus vinorelbine in stage IIIB or IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): A multicentre phase II clinical trial

Abstract A phase II study in patients with stage IIIB/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was carried out to evaluate the clinical activity and toxicity of the chemotherapeutic combination of gemcitabine+vinorelbine (GEM/VNR). Forty-five patients (40 male, 5 female) with a median age of 67 years (range 37–73) and a median ECOG performance status of 1 (range 0–2) were enrolled into the trial.
