Silicatein conjugation inside nanoconfined geometries through immobilized NTA–Ni(ii) chelates

2013

The chemical modification and bioconjugation processes inside confined geometries by His-tagged silicatein promote sensitive changes in the polarity and surface charge density that mainly contribute to the ionic current rectification properties of the single conical nanopores.

Label-free histamine detection with nanofluidic diodes through metal ion displacement mechanism

2017

[EN] We design and characterize a nanofluidic device for the label-free specific detection of histamine neurotransmitter based on a metal ion displacement mechanism. The sensor consists of an asymmetric polymer nanopore fabricated via ion track-etching technique. The nanopore sensor surface having metal-nitrilotriacetic (NTA-Ni2+) chelates is obtained by covalent coupling of native carboxylic acid groups with N-alpha,N-alpha-bis(carboxymethyl)-L-lysine (BCML), followed by exposure to Ni2+ ion solution. The BCML immobilization and subsequent Ni2+ ion complexation with NTA moieties change the surface charge concentration, which has a significant impact on the current-voltage (I-V) curve after…

Formation of layered titania and zirconia catalysed by surface-bound silicatein

2005

Silicatein immobilised on self-assembled polymer layers using a histidine-tag chelating anchor group retains its hydrolytical activity for the formation of biosilica, and catalyses the formation of layered arrangements of biotitania and biozirconia.

Highly enantioselective aza-Henry reaction with isatin N-Boc ketimines.

2014

A highly enantioselective aza-Henry reaction with isatin N-Boc ketimines using a Cu(II)–BOX complex as a catalyst is described. The reaction, which does not require protection of the N1 atom, provides the corresponding nitroamines bearing a quaternary stereocentre with high yields and enantiomeric excesses (up to 99.9%).

A catalytic highly enantioselective direct synthesis of 2-bromo-2-nitroalkan-1-ols through a Henry reaction.

2008

Highly enantiomerically enriched 2-bromo-2-nitroalkan-1-ols are prepared by direct condensation of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes with bromonitromethane in the presence of a catalytic amount of copper(II) acetate and a C1-symmetric camphorderived amino pyridine ligand. Multifunctionality in hybrid molecular materials: design of ferromagnetic molecular metals and hybrid magnets

2003

We report on the synthesis and physical properties of novel hybrid organic–inorganic molecular materials combining ferromagnetic bimetallic oxalato-based networks and functional organic molecules as the donor bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) or cationic nitroxide free radicals. # 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. A kriging interpolation strategy for the optimization of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans biomass production using fed-batch bioreactors

2008

In this work, a procedure for the optimization of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans biomass production in fed-batch reactors using a model based on optimal spatial interpolation of experimental data is proposed. The approach is useful in those cases where specific growth and substrate consumption rates are unknown. Based on interpolation, the optimal values of biomass and substrate concentrations set points are obtained at the minimum of 2-dimensional cost function. In the fed-batch reactor biomass and substrate concentrations are controlled at their set points by changing the input flow and its concentration. We propose a minimum variance control strategy which improves the classical proporti…

Production of refractory elements close to the Z=N line using the ion-guide technique

1998

Production of neutron-deficient isotopes of refractory elements in the A = 80-88 region was studied using the IGISOL technique and the 165 MeV Si-32 + Ni-nat reaction. Radioactive isotopes of Y through Mo could be produced up to the M-T = + 1 line. New information on the decay of the A = 82 and 85 nuclei, including a more detailed decay scheme and more accurate half-life for Y-82, was obtained. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Production of plutonium tracers in 237Np nuclear reactions with 3He-ions in the energy range from 26 to 60 MeV

1998

Cross-sections for the reaction Np-237 + He-3 --> Pu-236,Pu-237,Pu-238 at He-3 bombarding energies from 26 to 60 MeV were measured. Thick-target yields, based on the measured and previously known cross-sections were constructed. The results are discussed and compared with Ether reactions leading to the formation of the same final nuclei. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.

Mechanical and electroconductive properties of spatially distributed double stranded DNA arrays on Au (111)

2008

Abstract Conductive AFM was used to investigate electroconductivity through 10 nm long double stranded DNA molecules in mixed monolayers of thioalkylated-DNA and mercaptohexanol (MCH) on Au (111) surface. The distribution of DNA molecules on the surface was analyzed by tapping mode AFM. Measurements performed in lift mode confirmed that the DNA molecules protrude from the surface rather than lie horizontally adsorbed on the interface. The optimal conductivity measurement time, which is shorter than the mechanical relaxation time of oligonucleotide duplexes, was determined. It was concluded that oligonucleotide duplexes have a resistance of the order of ~ 2 Ω ⁎ m at 1 V.
